About listing

Creekside at Stinson Beach – a truly unique property on a nice quarter-acre of land that melds sweetly into the woods of the neighboring national park lands. Unlike many houses at Stinson, neighboring houses are on one fence only, so the place is quite private. The house is in its own wonderful watershed, almost a little micro-climate, yet only 100 yards from the 3 mile sandy beach. It's a 4-minute walk to the town's three restaurants, the library, market and boutiques. During the summer and holiday periods we rent by the week. Other times we will rent weekends, usually with a three night minimum. We offer two-night rentals in the fall and winter, but not on holiday weekends or during school vacation periods. For spring, summer and fall getaways and all year. With a wonderful indoor/outdoor feel, you can walk out French doors onto a beautiful Italian tile walkway around two sides of the house and onto the flagstone patio that leads to the hot tub. A large horizontal window in the master bedroom upstairs looks at the woods and sky from the bed. This is a charming, classic two-story beach house that features knotty pine ceilings, hard wood floors, a wood stove upstairs, radiant heated tiles floors downstairs, top-of-the-line spa steps from the downstairs bedroom, views of the ocean, three bedrooms and two baths. It has some connection to Marin County Rock and Roll bands and was said to be a beach house for the Steve Miller Band at one time. It is located next to a lovely fresh water creek teeming with native plants and visited by wildlife, including deer, foxes, bats, ducks, grebes, egrets, hawks, warblers, flycatchers and many others. In March of 2009 we witnessed a 20' steelhead trout spawning below our dining room window! During most of the year, deer are nearby and visit often. In the late spring, we see their fawns running around. The house is on quarter acre that borders the north end of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area Stinson Beach Park so it feels like you are on a very large piece of land. Sit in the upstairs living room and gaze out at the ocean as the sun streams in the windows. The grassy and forested landscape allows for great exploring with children and quiet contemplative moments in nature. From the bedroom deck on the back, you are right on the edge of the native willow forest with lovely views to the mountain and the waves. We often see deer, hawks and other wildlife just below. Nice oak floors upstairs and heated tile floors down. Two couches frame an updated fireplace stove that warms the whole room. Table for six looks out on creek with morning sun streaming in for breakfast. We have chairs to seat up to 20 people outside at four tables if you want to entertain. Decks on three sides of the second floor give you a great sense of loft and perspective among the native willow trees and orange nasturtium blossoms. Flagstone patio leads to great Hot Spring spa in private spot to relax. Nicely appointed kitchen and lots of space to settle in and find serenity. Walk 100 yards to beach or 300 to the town. Three great restaurants, take-out pizza at Parkside, and the entire GGNRA (National Park) beach to yourself after the park closes or before it opens at 9 in the morning. We have blackberries, mint and apples growing on the property. The house sleeps 6-10 with two queen beds in bedrooms, a bunk bed set in the third bedroom, a queen-sized temperpedic mattress with a privacy curtain in the playroom downstairs, a window seat futon and full size brass bed in a rustic cabin across the patio. Also, you may set up tents in the yard for children or guests (you must bring the tents ;) Antiques and art that were collected over a span of more than 30 years are found in every room. It's an interesting place, inside and out, for a beach rental . We have a wonderful collection of books, CDs and New Yorker magazines as well. Call 415.359.7654 or email for availability. We do not have pets and do not wish to have visitors bring pets on the property. $500 deposit and $150 for cleaning required. Generally, we require payment in full before the dates can be secured. Keywords: Classic Beach House, natural green space, ocean view, with pine ceiling, wood stove, decks all around. Park-like property with fresh water creek but only 125 steps from the beach sand.

We stayed at Creekside for a week with our family including three children aged 6 and under. There were 8 of us and we all loved he property! As described it is located beside Easkoot Creek with further land across the bridge. We made use of the creekside deck for barbecuing, the hot tub and more than amply supplied kitchen. It was a wonderful homely feel with lots of books and games and dvds to entertain the children during down time. Lots of places to explore with several outhouses. There was something quirky and charming around every corner! We particularly loved the wildlife, hummingbirds, deer, pelicans flying over the beach just a few steps away. It was also convenient for local hiking, walking into town for shops and restaurants (we really enjoyed sand dollar to eat and a lovely shop sacred tides for local craft gift purchases) but also as a base to drive to muir woods, point Reyes or San Francisco all of which we did and enjoyed! The owner was very attentive without being intrusive making sure we had all the info we needed. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at Stinson Beach again and wouldn't choose anywhere other than creekside! 29 August 2017 - 19:37:00

Our stay in Stinson Beach was enhanced by this house. First it is completely furnished and quite cozy and warm. This means that our evenings were usually spend enjoying wine, conversations and games in the living room. The house is really completely furnished, with lots of cooking utensils and a nice coffee maker. The second thing this house has is a great location. Its close enough to the town that we could walk into town in the mornings for pastries. Its also on a creek, so one morning we looked out to see a gray fox near the creek. Third, its a two story house, so you can see the ocean clearly. The same day we saw the fox we spotted a pod of three Humpback Whales just off the beach, Dolphins too. Great Place. 28 August 2017 - 19:56:00

We have just returned from a wonderful two weeks at this home in Stinson Beach. The most amazing feature about it is its privacy. Once you enter the gate off the road, you have entered a green, lush, quiet spot - unique for Northern California. Even on the weekends when Route 1 nearby was bumper to bumper, we were totally visually isolated from that as well as from the neighbors. We saw a mother doe and her two fawns more than once. The side lot is a very unusual feature that draws such wildlife and yet is available through the artistic fish gate for extra parking (very handy when your friends come out for a beach day!) The kitchen was very well equipped and there are plenty of towels, sheets, blankets, etc. Thanks for a wonderful two weeks for our family reunion! 30 July 2012 - 16:05:22

I just rented the home for the weekend to celebrate my 40th with my friends. The location is perfect to get the beach and be close to the town. The set up in the home is great for many guests and extremely comfortable. Very comfy beds too. It is well equipped with most needed items. The property is gorgeous with lush greenery and privacy. While good, the pictures don't quite do it justice. The property manager Bill is absolutely great and the owner Charles is easy to work with and gets back to you on a timely fashion. I'd easily rent this home again and again. Thank you for such a perfect weekend. We all just loved it. 06 May 2014 - 19:20:52

*** Please note , this review is for a stay 2 years ago. **** I hesitated to write this review but 2 years and no new reviews makes me wonder if other family are disappointed too. This is a big house , in a great location with lovely grounds . However the house and grounds were in a poor state of repair and cleanliness. If you care about the details , this might not be the best house for you. 22 January 2017 - 05:03:50

Many great things here, lots of supplies (dishes, towels, sheets, wood for wood stove), very clean entry way, bathrooms, hot tub and kitchen, lots of great room for sleeping spaces, lovely lot with many trees, vines and birds and we saw a white egret. Plus Charles was extremely responsive and helpful in setting up stay. Windows are in need of a wash, and outside decks including floors around hot tube could use a sweep. 16 January 2018 - 17:54:00
