This beautiful 75 square meter belle etage 1 bedroom apartment is ideal for one or two people and it can accommodate four as well. The apartment has typical features of the late 19th century, such as stucco, wing-doors and original wooden cassette doors. It has beautiful solid oak parquetry flooring throughout. The completely quite bedroom has been furnished with a king size bed, an art deco closet, and side bed shelves. The dining/living room has 3 meter E15 long dining table and sits 6 on its Charles and Ray Eames chairs. The two super comfortable Giancarlo Piretti chairs create a zen corner for an afternoon coffee. The natural lighted Kitchen is very stylish, fully equipped with a large refrigerator and separate freezer, dishwasher, laundry machine, iron and ironing board, microwave, oven with Ceran hot plates, coffee maker, espresso maker, toaster, Britta, shoe rack, and a designer's sofa that converts to queen size bed. The bathroom has a natural light, a designer's shower with a heated tall towel- rail. Telephone including flat rate European/American landline calls, high speed wireless DSL INTERNET. It is one minute walking distance from the canal and 4 minutes from the trendy Graefekiez. The connections to public transport (bus, underground) within Berlin are excellent! I like to keep my apartment clean and am only looking for mature, responsible subletters. Please email with details of your stay and a brief description of yourself. Serious inquiries only please. We loved Sophia's amazing apartment. It was a wonderful pied a terre while we were in such an invigorating, poignant, fascinating city. The location is great and the public transportation in Berlin is amazing so there's always a connection to get to and from the apartment. 10 October 2017 - 13:32:00

We hated for our month in this apartment in Berlin to end....it's an exciting city, with amazing museums, fantastic modern architecture, parks galore, wonderful public transportation.....and great ice cream! We loved our neighborhood. It has organic grocers, one of the last covered markets in Berlin, bookstores, tons of restaurants of all kinds, and a dozen or so cafes with really, really good coffee. It's an easy walk to a canal, which is such a pleasant stroll on a nice day, and the Turkish Market. And even though the apartment is on a good bus line, it has double paned windows and is very quiet. The apartment is exactly as described: high ceilings, elegant furnishings, super modern kitchen and bath, well equipped. We recommend it highly and would be happy to return. 21 June 2011 - 22:35:15
  3. We have rented apartments all over Europe but this was our hands-down favorite. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed! It's a gem of an apartment -- spacious, light, fully-equipped, completely private, and very quiet. Kreutzberg is the best Berlin neighborhood and there's lots to see and do in the immediate area. A five-minute walk takes you to the very pretty canal -- an evening stroll along the banks is highly recommended and there are several small parks nearby. There are excellent neighborhood restaurants and bars within an easy walk -- the exceptionally helpful and accomodating owner provides great personal recommendations. Getting around the city is easy and stress-free. There's a bus stop directly outside the building and two different subway stations are within easy walking distance. You can't possibly do better for your visit to Berlin! 19 September 2011 - 18:53:17

Pictures cannot do justice to the beautiful lines of this apartment--elegant, bright, spacious, uncluttered, stylish, new and clean. Lovely table and bed linens. Perfectly located for public transportation to anywhere in the city. Within easy walking distance to many restaurants and two lively, interesting neighborhoods full of character and charm, including a gourmet covered market in one and the famous Turkish outside market near the other . A stone's throw to a walk along the chestnut and willow-lined Landwehrkanal with happy sun bathers on the shore and swans swimming by. Many different kinds of restaurants within easy reach--a great cafe, a pleasant cafe/restaurant on a boat in the canal, a charming old-style beer garden, and two highly rated gourmet restaurants within easy walking distance. However, with a Metro Bus at the corner, nothing in the city is inaccessible. A comfortable king-size bed in a miraculously restful and quiet bedroom. Well-equipped and easy to use kitchen. The owner is attentive, communicative and very helpful. Many thanks to her for her suggestions and good will. We were delighted to be here and this would be our first choice, should we return. 19 July 2012 - 19:41:45

My husband and I spent the month of August in Sophias apartment in Berlin and had a wonderful time. The apartment is spacious, very clean, and well maintained. The features are as described. We especially appreciated the washing machine, the excellent wifi connection, and the free long-distance phone service to the United States. I was writing while in Berlin and the front room with its abundance of natural light was a perfect environment. The best feature of the apartment, however, is its location. It is situated in a great section of Kreuzberg, close to two wonderful areas with good restaurants and stores around Gneisenaustrasse (Soluna bakery is a must!) and around Grimmstrasse. The canal is minutes away and great for walks. A-Horn became a favorite local restaurant for us. The apartment also has easy access to Berlins excellent public transportation. Between the bus and subway systems, one can easily access the entire city. Sophia was a great host, providing all the information needed on the area. I strongly recommend her place. 21 September 2012 - 07:43:49

Wonderful spacious one-bedroom apartment with every amenity to make a Berlin stay enjoyable. The owner is a pleasure to deal with, and the location is close to public transportation in a neighborhood filled with cafs and boutiques, yet ethnically diverse. Civilized living at its best! 20 October 2012 - 02:22:21
  7. This apartment was just perfect for us (2 people). It is on two bus routes and just three blocks from a subway station. It had all of the things necessary for a comfortable extended stay (1 month) in Berlin. We found the bed to be very comfortable and the bay window just above the street level was very nice for people watching, as we sipped a glass of wine. A grocery store was next to the subway station and Kaisers grocery was always an easy visit at the main train station as we returned from an outing. Van Loons restaurant was a great place to just relax and enjoy good food and it was on the canal. Isabels was perfect for us because my husband could have a beer and I could have an ice cream. The two major food groups! We had occasion to use the facilities at the Vivantes hospital (routine Coumadin blood test) and found it to be pleasant. (This is about 5 blocks away.) They even billed us here in the states. One of the primary things we would recommend for new arrivals in Berlin is the Segway tour provided by Fat Tire Bicycle Rental near the base of the TV tower. What fun!!! We also used the Hop On Hop Off Bus to visit some of the sites we wanted to spend more time at. We purchased 30 day passes for the bus, train, street car and underground system allowing us to go anywhere in the Berlin area. Be sure to bring your walking shoes. Even though public transportation is so convenient, we walked between 5 and 10 miles each day. Enjoy Berlin. Thank you SOPHIA for allowing us to stay in your apartment so we could experience Berlin so leisurely. 02 November 2012 - 11:20:06

Sophia, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful apartment. It was perfect for our November visit to Berlin. We were always happy to come back to your warm spacious clean apartment and relax, it is the perfect mix of modern and classic. You were also a wonderful hostess, providing good advice on getting around Berlin, places to eat, and other travel advice. We could easily catch a bus or subway within a short walking distance and transport ourselves to anywhere in Berlin. I enjoyed running along the nearby canal, and found several markets and bakeries close by for groceries. When we come back to Berlin we would want to stay at your apartment again. 12 December 2012 - 05:54:02

I stayed in Sophia's lovely apartment for a little over three weeks in May and couldn't have been happier. For one thing, if you are using public transportation, the 41 bus runs every ten minutes right out the front door and connects with several U and S Bahn stops including Potsdammerplatz and the main train station. Within a few blocks you have an award winning bakery, Brot und Ol, a local market on Bergmanstrasse, with excellent wine, cheese and other groceries and lots of restaurant choices. My favorite was A.horn for their housemade pasta dishes and daily specials at very reasonable prices. Again only two blocks away on Baerwaldstrasse and the canal. Curry 36, the best currywurst in Berlin is also only blocks away. The apartment is quiet and spotless, the linens clean and high quality, the kitchen is well equipped and everything about the place says, "good taste". It feels like a home without being cluttered with too many of the owner's personal belongings . I ran into some cool weather while there but the apartment was always warm and comfortable and mornings were a delight with light flooding into the front room through the bay window. I should mention that the windows are double and do an excellent job of filtering out the street noises. For those thinking of renting who will have a car, a friend from Germany visited and he had no trouble finding street parking close to the apartment I know when I next stay in Berlin this will be my first choice. 05 June 2013 - 23:15:20

My wife and I spent over a month staying at Sophia's beautiful apartment in Berlin. Sophia was very kind and welcoming, and made the entire process easy. The apartment itself was wonderful, with lots of space, huge ceilings, a fully-stocked kitchen, and a modern bathroom. We loved the location, right in the heart of Kreuzberg, with walking/bike access to cafes, shops, grocery stores, and the canal. Despite all of the activity in the neighborhood, the apartment was extremely quiet since it has double paned windows and thick walls. The only downside is that you won't ever want to leave Berlin! 30 September 2013 - 18:43:41

When you want to "really" see Berlin, I think it's important to stay in a home that reflects the culture. I actually felt sorry for people staying at fancy hotels. The location was perfect as mass transit was right outside. The apartment is modern and spotless yet you can still imagine the history. The ceilings are amazingly high; the bathroom is as luxurious as a fine hotel with a large towel warmer. Since most restaurants close on Sunday nights, we availed ourselves of the fine kitchen and cooked up a dinner of odds and ends we had bought at KaDeWe food hall. We'd love to come back again. Thank you Sophia. 04 November 2013 - 19:09:04

This apartment is located in a great area of Berlin in a building with character! Many options for restaurants, transit, or just walking. The inside is very clean and tasteful. Highly recommend it to those seeking a quiet place to work, or just to absorb the city. The owner took great care to forward many interesting recommendations for nearby restaurants. Try NOR, the wine bar. I stayed a month, and would not hesitate to return. In fact, I probably will! 28 May 2014 - 20:23:02

I stayed in this apartment for a full month, May 2015, during which I was working each weekday in central Berlin, not far from the Museum Island. My assessment of the apartment is positive on all fronts. It is well situated: a couple of blocks from the Landwehr Canal with its leafy walks and grassy banks; not far from a pleasing warren of shops and restaurants that constitute the bohemian face of Kreuzberg; a few blocks from a daily market providing all one needs in the way of food and drink; a 45-minute walk through varying cityscapes to the historical centre of the city; several U-Bahn stations close by. And the apartment itself, which is in a 19th century building, has been very thoroughly renovated: all the equipment works, and the bedroom is perfectly quiet at night. Moreover, the space is pleasingly decorated, giving a sense of spacious, austere elegance. It was a real joy to return there every evening; I would very gladly repeat the experience. 02 July 2015 - 21:27:00

My girl friend and I stayed in Sophia's lovely apartment for 10 days (only) during which we were able to combine a very busy schedule of sight seeing, catching up with family and friends (I am originally from Berlin, but live in the States now and the apartment was conveniently located directly between several friends and family members) and a quite vacation getaway to rest, relax, cook and be still. I loved the location. I loved the brightness and openness and choice of Sophia's furnishing style, I loved the connection to everything important in Berlin - be it walking distance or easy to get to thanks to U1, U7 and M41 - I loved how clean, perfect and spotless everything was and most of all: I loved how much I was able to feel at home. 30 June 2016 - 01:12:44

We stayed at the apartment for 10 days. The apartment was very clean and quite spacious. The kitchen was fully appointed and a wash machine was available for clothing. The apartment is located very close to transit and food markets. Sophia and her representative were pleasant, punctual, helpful and easy to get in touch with. It worked out very well for us and I would recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Berlin. 12 October 2016 - 00:09:06
