About listing

Located in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset District, this is a large room (studio) with private bath that opens onto an ornamental garden. It has its own entrance from the street, queen-size bed, kitchen area, separate shower/bath and vanity, LCD TV with cable, private phone, and wireless Internet access. We supply all linens. Access to the nearby UCSF fitness center and swimming pool is available for a daily fee. The Studio is available for nightly, weekly, or monthly rental all year round. The Inner Sunset is the quintessential San Francisco neighborhood: full of diverse restaurants, coffee houses, and shops. The Studio is just two blocks from the UCSF Parnassus Campus, including the University of California San Francisco Medical Center and medical school, and Golden Gate Park, including the newly reopened de Young Museum and California Academy of Sciences, the Strybing Arboretum, and the Japanese Tea Garden. The Studio is conveniently located near public transit. Two blocks away, the N-Judah streetcar line runs from the Pacific Ocean to downtown (including the financial district, Union Square shopping district, Civic Center, and bay waterfront). Five buses also stop within four blocks and run to all corners of the city. Keywords: Apartment, studio, efficiency

We found the studio comfortable and very much as pictured on-line. The location is great for us as it is near our daughter. We hope to return and enjoy the garden in warmer and less rainy weather. 08 December 2016 - 02:17:00

Early October visit: Had a great stay in this studio. It was the perfect size for me, well appointed with what a person needs, and the location could not have been more perfect. 9th Street et al was the area of choice for dinner almost every night and was very accessible from this studio. I loved having the door to the garden open in the morning and evening to let the fresh cool air come in. So so good - so good. If I had one comment, and a simple thing really, it would be to have filtered water or filtered pitcher - and that isn't really a complaint at all. LOVED THIS PLACE AND WILL STAY AGAIN. Highly recommended for a single person or couple. On a side note, thanks for taking the time to chat with me a couple of times Matt. It was nice to know the owner of who I was 'kinda' living with :) Thank you Matt, very much and I hope I left the place as perfect as I found it. See you again soon I hope! 07 October 2016 - 17:46:00

This studio worked wonderfully for me and my two teenaged boys. The owner was very responsive by email, and the place was clean and comfortable. My older son used the air matress while my younger son and I shared the bed. Because the studio is at the back of the first floor of the owner's house, it's super quiet and has a lovely garden just outside the room which gave the studio a greater feeling of spaciousness. My only complaint about the studio was that the kitchenette is really quite small and hard to cook in due to very limited counter space. You really shouldn't count on eating in too much. But that's o.k. because there are so many great little restaurants right in the neighborhood. Inner Sunset has the feeling of a homey community with small shops, cafes, a farmers market, and all kinds of people just going about their lives. The neighborhood is full of lovely Victorian and Arts-and-Crafts style houses. We did a lot of wandering around, enjoying the Botanical Gardens at Golden Gate Park as well as walking to other neighborhoods (though the street cars are an easy way to get around, too). I would certainly recommend the studio to friends or family. 01 September 2016 - 03:18:00

My wife and I found this studio to be clean, safe and quiet. However, it was clear there just is not a lot of effort put into this apartment to make it a delightful experience. The bedding was clean but about as old a well used as it could get. The areas that your eyes would see first were clean, but the walls, backs of doors and edges in the shower area could use a good cleaning. The hallway to get from the street to the apartment was clean but dark and unappealing. The garden has potential but was over grown. The furnishings were functional but looked like something that has been passed from one poor college student to another for more than a decade. Good access to neighborhood restaurants and groceries. 20 June 2016 - 15:32:00

This darling studio was perfect for my visit to San Fran! The comfortable bed looked out at the darling private garden that had daily humming birds and robins basking on blooming flowers. The studio is right next to MUNI on the Judah line and 2 blocks from the Golden Gate Park. I was in heaven. This will be my main stay every time I visit my son who lives on the other side of the park. Plenty of places to eat, although i cooked in the kitchen in the studio most days. The studio has plenty of storage spots, hangers, makeup counter with sink and a magnified mirror. The TV and internet were a bonus! Even though i was in San Fran during the rainiest weekend I had a blast. Feb 19th -22 2017- Thank you for the wonderful stay!! Check in and out was simple. 25 February 2017 - 19:28:00

We stayed in this cute studio recently for a single night, before heading to wine country. It was cozy, bed was comfy, and there is a really beautiful garden right outside the french doors. Lots of lush plants, and trees. Had a very Zen feel. Studio is In a neighborhood that is easily walkable. Many restaurants within just a few blocks. Recommended. 23 February 2017 - 15:05:00

This property is a charming studio apartment in San Francisco's "Inner Sunset" neighborhood. It is within easy walking distance of U.C.S.F. Medical Center, Golden Gate Park and the N-Judah Muni line. There are many good local restaurants and bistros covering a whole multitude of nationalities. Most are very reasonably priced relative to other spots in S.F. The studio apartment opens on to a small garden area. The owners were attentive to questions and concerns regarding our stay and we would certainly consider this property for a return visit. 13 October 2010 - 13:25:07

The website gives a good overview of the property. We found it utilitarian, nothing fancy and quite suitable for our needs; a good value. We've stayed at the Studio on two occasions, and expect to be back as long as we have family in the area. The updated garden area is very nice when the weather cooperates, and the location is convenient to shopping, dining, and recreation. The owners provide good information about San Francisco, and are readily available to answer questions and help with useful advice. Enjoy! 17 July 2011 - 03:29:54

We came to San Fransisco for the Outside Lands Music Festival and stayed here. The place was quiet and very quaint. We loved spending time in the garden with coffee. It is located near tons of shops, restaurants and transportation. I would recommend to anyone staying near Golden Gate Park. 29 August 2012 - 15:35:35

Studio on Sixth was a perfect place for me and my wife to stay during our recent visit to UCSF Medical Center. It is less than a 10 minute walk to the medical campus, and close to bus and rail lines. The studio was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The garden directly out the back door is lovely. Our host, who lives in the main house upstairs, was always available by phone or e-mail if we needed anything, and he was as flexible as he could be in accomodating our changing travel plans. The studio is also within walking distance of a very nice commercial district with lots of reasonable restaurants, coffee shops, grocery and drug stores, and other services. I would stay here again and recommend Studio on Sixth to others. DMH, Milwaukee, WIsconsin 25 December 2012 - 17:42:09

My niece and I stayed here for 2 nights. We brought food to cook, but ate out ALL the time. Great places nearby. Especially Golden Bear trading company - 10+ kinds of coffee, wines and more. Ask for Sam! And almost never saw the landlords. They live upstairs but competely leave you alone to come and go at all hours. Great and easy directions for access and checkout. 08 May 2014 - 06:30:50

We spent a lovely week in San Francisco visiting our sons. The Studio on Sixth was a great rental for our week. Located on a very quiet street, yet perfect to get to transportation, Golden Gate Park, restaurants and cafes. The owners responded promptly to our inquiry and the Studio was cozy with plenty of closet space. We bought groceries for breakfast, but otherwise ate out - so didn't need the kitchen area so much. Overall, a wonderful stay. We would stay at the Studio on Sixth again. 12 June 2014 - 14:16:55

This cozy studio provided the necessities for comfort and convenience at a reasonable price. With the high costs of vacationing in San Fran, this place gave us the ability to walk to affordable restaurants in the Sunset area as well as to get to the beautiful Golden Gate Park. Although parking is not available all the time, with a little strategy and understanding of the parking rules,we were able to have a car and not pay for parking. The garden was quite nice but we did not spend much time in it with our little one (1 YO) as we found it a little over grown at the entrance and along the walking path. Having a little one was somewhat a challenge due to being in the same sleeping quarters and next time I would recommend those with this age to be in a 1 bedroom. As for the owner, he was really great at responding within 24 hours. Overall, we were happy with the experience. 03 August 2015 - 17:24:57

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this adorable, comfortable, and safe studio. The only negative was that I couldn't stay longer :) I look forward to visiting again soon! 21 September 2015 - 14:47:46

We stayed 2 nights in the Garden Studio. The fenced in garden in the back was very tranquil. The apt was cozy, had nice amenities and was reasonably priced for San Francisco. Some negatives:the freezer and refrigerator were in great need of defrosting and the sheets on the bed were torn. These negatives would not keep me from staying here again. 03 October 2015 - 22:21:30

This was my second visit to this rental and again was great! My daughter lives only a few blocks away and we were moving her out of state, so this was super convenient for us. Unfortunately, we didn't get in until fairly late and had to leave the next morning. Well equipped and all you need - close to public transportation and the park, lots of good restaurants, coffee/bakeries, and little bars. Also, a great little garden area off of the apt - nice to have coffee sitting out there in the morning (or a glass of wine in the evening)! 08 October 2015 - 22:22:26

We stayed here for a few days before Thanksgiving to visit family who lived in the neighborhood. We had a lovely time. The rental is close to many good restaurants as well as Golden Gate Park. The unit is adequately furnished with a comfy bed, clean bath, and everything you would need in a small kitchen. There were coffee filters and little amenities there. In the future if we need a place to stay in Inner Sunset, we will certainly rebook this unit. 06 January 2017 - 14:21:38
