Best location in town. Very quiet neighborhood. Although the unit needs updating, it has its old world charm. Very spacious for a studio apartment esp. in Manhattan. The apartment looks like a college student lives here. It's has mismatched furnitures. There are unneccesssay cabinets, that opens by itself. Paint over paint. Overall, it was clean. We had enjoyed our stay. 29 June 2017 - 00:11:00

The best thing about the apartment is its location on a beautiful old brownstone bldg st. In the upper west side. The apartment retains some of the original features of the building, gorgeous high decorated ceiling and parquet floors. The kitchen was minuscule, and the bathroom just adequate. Everything was very clean, just suffering from age and disrepair in places. 09 May 2012 - 15:27:59

This apartment and the whole building is old and quaint. There is only one flight of stairs to reach the apartment, so that helps if you have a lot of luggage. The apartment is maintained and clean, but its age is showing in places. It has a beautiful ornamented high ceiling, very beautiful fireplace and parquet floors. It is very spaceous. The kitchen is very small but has everything you need and the bathroom is ok. The apartment faces the backyard, so it is very quiet. There were no surprises - the pictures are acurate and show the apartment's true appearance. It is adequately furnished, the beds are comfortable, there is enough storage space, and really - there is everything you need. Some hooks for hanging towels would have been nice, but that's really nit picking. The four of us had a great time, and it was a wonderful place to come to after a day of exploring New York. The neighbourhood is absolutely beautiful and peaceful and literally minutes away from the Central Park, Columbus Ave and 86 St subway station. The owner was very nice and helped us with the luggage and was always available when we had questions about anything. We loved it. We hope that the apartment will be available again when we come and visit and we would be happy to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay in NY. 23 July 2012 - 22:02:23

This is HUGE as far as studio apartments go. Apartment was VERY clean. The bathroom is showing it's age, but that is expected in NYC in my opinion. Otherwise, the apartment shows it's age in a good way- we detail and ambiance found only in historical buildings. It was also amazing how quiet this apartment is.. Not only does the window back up to the garden, but the actual street is extremely quiet. Yet, it's like a 2 minute walk to the metro station, which, by the way, dumps you into Rock Center/5th Ave, etc in just a few quick stops. Central Park is just across the street from the metro and the south side of the big lake and you are right smack on the loop that takes you to the MET, turtle pond, Sweedish Cottage, etc. Dov, the owner, was amazingly responsive. In fact, I ended up at his place because several other listings I looked at people would not respond. Dov either picked up right away or called me back within 2 minutes the 4-5 times I called him. I highly recommend this as a great place to stay short or long term for your time in NYC. PS, the neighborhood is very safe feeling and Pete's Pizza around the corner was awesome : ) 23 August 2012 - 15:10:34

The apartment is very spacious and clean, although worn in places. It had all the little extras that were useful (hairdryer, iron, kettle, bagel toaster - essential for New York!). It is up one flight of stairs, faces the back garden and wonderfully peaceful. The location is unbeatable - half a block from the B,C subway line, half a block from buses on Central Park West & Columbus Avenue and half a block from Central Park. Dov, the owner, was responsive and very helpful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and would recommend this apartment to anyone. 28 August 2012 - 23:18:57

The apartment was perfect for our needs, clean, and in a great location - close to B, C subway lines and Central Park. The owner was responsive to phone calls and emails. I would definitely stay in this apartment again in the future. 29 July 2013 - 13:22:26

My first impression when I pulled up outside wasn't great, always that fear when you book via the internet. However when I got into the apartment we were very pleased. Yes the bathroom is definitely a bit tired but apart from that the apartment was big, and very clean. The location was fantastic on a lovely street, and so near to the subway. The apartment was quiet at night, and there were great places to eat nearby, and so close to Central Park, which was a real bonus. Would not hesitate to recommend. 14 August 2013 - 02:48:00

Our recent stay in this upper west side apartment worked out perfectly. We like to come to the city from Scottsdale a few times a year and decided to stay in the upperwest side versus Chelsea area where we usually stay. Apartment was a good size and comfortable. Right by Central park which was wonderful for daily runs and very close to a good Subway stop. Terrific restaurants nearby and all the charm of the neighborhood. We would definitely consider staying here again and Dov the owner was very helpful. Thank you. 21 October 2013 - 14:24:36

The owner was pleasant and immediately available to let us in when we arrived. The apartment is well appointed and spacious, and certainly clean. We had a minor issue with the smoke alarm battery causing the alarm to begin beeping at 12:30AM and because it was placed 14 feet up on the wall, we could not reach it to turn it off. Did not sleep at all that first night. The owner was quick to resolve the issue in the morning. Would readily stay there again. 23 October 2013 - 15:37:35

Dov was a great host. The large studio was very comfortable. The only issue is if you are a menopausal woman and you are there in the winter, bring summer PJ. The heat cannot be controlled and the apartment gets very warm. Location was fabulous for our needs and the neighborhood was wonderful to walk around in. I would return in a heartbeat. And if you have good timing there is street parking 12 December 2013 - 19:01:36

We stayed for 27 nights with a week's break in the middle and it became like home. Location is excellent - close to subway, Central Park, Columbus Avenue (everything you need), downtown and cross town buses etc. The apartment is very quiet - no traffic noise. Heating, WiFi, beds and all amenities were excellent. Dov and his wife, Shula, were responsive and helpful eg offered to allow us to leave luggage in the apartment during the week's break. Apartment is very spacious and having the kitchen between the bedroom and bathroom allows some privacy. Daily rate was very reasonable. All round excellent and will stay there again if it is available whenever we visit NYC. 23 March 2014 - 23:46:49

My husband and I stayed here for about 10 days in December. Really great apartment. Very big, well-lit living area and everything we needed for our stay. Location is fantastic -- very close to the subway and Central Park, plus lots of great bars/restaurants in the UWS and some great markets and wine stores are nearby. The only cons were that the bed springs are squeaky and the shower curtain liner billows in (maybe a curved curtain rod and a weighted curtain liner would help). Overall a great experience. We come to NYC often for work and would stay here again. 30 December 2015 - 20:25:13

The owner of the building was fast on fixing the toilet (which was clogged), and the living room walls were freshly painted (though no sanding or filling holes before painting); the furniture was old and dilapidated (a desk with the computer drawer falling down and the dining (sic) table was held together with blue tape); the refrigerator contained half-filled bottles of various unwanted items and its outside wall was covered with orange-y stains; the bathroom had peeling paint. But the neighborhood is great (close to Central Park, the subway, many great places to eat), and the heat more than sufficed. Still, i felt a bit like a poor college student who'd found a place he might fix up, if he really tried; so it'd be okay to bring the parents here. Really. They'll understand. It's just for a short while anyway. I came away thinking the guy who owned it just didn't get how shabby it all felt, or maybe he did and didn't care. Me, I'll choose a hotel next time. This was just a bit too depressing. 28 December 2016 - 04:01:00

We are to old to notice the fact that the place is a bit run down. For us the place was just perfect; lots of charm and space with a kitchennette, placed in a quiet neighborhood on Manhattan . The doublebed is a one mattress and cover affair, quite comfortable if You can share! If You're fuzzy about details; stay away, if not; enjoy Your stay. 04 December 2017 - 20:48:00

Delighted when I first saw the room, which was in a great position, but found that several things needed attention. I requested a second key, as it was most inconvenient, there being two of us. The owner promised to drop one off, but didn't bother doing so. There were nails sticking out of the floor, which were dangerous and ants everywhere in the bathroom and kitchen. 17 May 2017 - 02:46:00

We walked into a large studio apartment which was clean and had all the necessary amenities. Felt very safe there and owner was quick to respond to any issues. The only problem we had was a loose doorknob with some difficulty locking it. A phone call led to a quick response. The location is ideal. Half a block from Central Park, the subway and a downtown bus. We stayed for about six weeks and explored many of the museums including multiple visits to Met Museum of Art which was a short walk through the park. Plenty of restaurants on Columbus, Amsterdam and Broadway. We would return if the situation arose. 19 September 2016 - 16:05:00

Half a block from Central Park where you can run the dog off leash before 9 AM every day. We even brought the kids Christmas caroling outside the brownstone. Where else do you see that in Manhattan? 02 January 2018 - 18:35:00
