About listing

Beautiful neighborhood close to town. Short walk to the end of the street for bus pick up to commuter rail station that takes you to Grand Central Station in Manhattan should there be commuters in your family or group. UBER operates here as well. Neighborhood is two cul de sacs with many younguns', Mature trees with specimen copper beach, Japanese maple and chestnut tree twins. Bus pick up at the end of our street for Saugatuck, Bedford and Staples school kids during the school year. This home is in the heart of the beautiful town of Westport, is perfect to kick back and relax. Our home is comfortable with a great flow from indoors to outside. My children were raised here, family gatherings that spill to the great back yard spring, summer and fall. Touch football all year long (or soccer) on our flat one acre. Outdoor grilling or many nights just looking at the stars and watch the wind in the trees. Summer hear the music from the Levitt Pavillion (or join the fun - its free almost everynight in summer!). Winter snowsled at Winslow Park, Ice Skate at Longshore and it is a must to attend Staples High School Candlelight Service in December! KITCHEN: Vintage GE P/7 stove. Electric. Everything you need to cook but it is an older home so kitchen reflects the time. What is fun is the vintage stove (a cool 42' wide), double oven - 1 large, 1 small. Of course all the tools to cook and entertain. Spring, Summer and Fall eat in the Sun Room surrounded by glass. More formal sit down, a black laquer table holds 8 comfortably but can seat 10. Child seats and table. Food service supplies for toddlers. We have 4 grandchildren under 5. CATERING: There are WONDERFUL take out choices from Collyer Catering and Fresh Market to Stew Leonards and an array of restaurants who deliver. As well as our favorite, traditional charcoal out of doors barbecue. Our new favorite is Craft Butchery in Saugatuck, a part of Westport, just off exit 17. Organic meats. ONE FLOOR LIVING: 3 bedrooms, both baths, living room, dining room, kitchen all on the same floor. Master bedroom has attached bath. Bathroom in Master is large shower. Large enough to fit a waterproof chair if desired. Master bedroom has private deck/exit to yard with all year sun. Tuned baby grand piano in living room. Large screen TV in living room. Dining room with easy seating for 10. SUNROOM: a small step down with doors from the kitchen, living room and french doors framing the dining room to the sun room to the expansive backyard. The sunroom glass sliders open fully. Wood pellet stove warms this lovely space although it does require filling the pellet feeder. BACK DECK: Summer time find chaise lounges, table with chairs, sofa all make the back deck a casual fun place to play cards, read or take a nap. Winter is a table top with four chairs. The charcoal grill is out for year round use. Traditional charcoal grill or use small propane grill. Your choice. Private back yard with open space. What a great home for our mid-winter Girls Weekend! We gathered from across the Eastern Seaboard for a weekend of chatting, eating and movie watching in celebration of my sister-in-law's pregnancy. We were looking for a home that was very comfortable, close to the metro-north train line and not in the hustle of the city but close to good restaurants and grocery stores. This home was absolutely perfect! We ate leisurely meals around the dining room table within view and warmth of the wood pellet stove. We hung out for hours in the living room by the fireplace - the sofa and chairs are super comfy. The home is very close (less than two miles) from both a Trader Joes and Fresh Market. This made eating super easy. We also enjoyed a delightful dinner at Le Farm and a wonderful brunch at Terrain. The owners, Betsy & Dave, were incredibly helpful with everything from directions to restaurant recommendations. They even stopped by when we couldn't figure out the wood stove. THANK YOU!!! 04 March 2013 - 21:19:44
