About listing

Our cottage is a brand new, 400 square foot private getaway full of farmhouse inspired charm! It features one bedroom with a comfy queen size bed with handmade reclaimed wood headboard and a spacious armoire. The kitchen comes equipped with a vintage 1960 GE refrigerator, 4 burner stove, toaster and microwave. It is stocked with cooking utensils and pots/pans should the need to whip up a meal strike you. We also have a French press, tea pot and blender. The main room has cable TV and a futon that coverts into a queen sized bed. Extra linens and a snuggly duvet are available. We also have a dining table for two and a full supply of glassware and utensils. The bathroom is a full 3 piece washroom with roomy shower. The shelves are handmade from wine boxes and the hardware from galvanized steel! Guests have their own dedicated space to relax and enjoy the beauty of wine country. We offer guests a complimentary bottle of wine (with a minimum 2 night stay) as well as all the supplies to make 'smores! In the outdoor space, guests can relax around their own fire pit or grill up dinner on their own BBQ. We will also be extending the use of 2 bikes for guests to use...the Sonoma plaza is a quick 2 mile pedal away! The cottage is located behind our home, so we are usually here to greet our guests and get them settled in. My husband, Alex, grew up right here in Sonoma and is so knowledgeable about the area. We love to provide guests with suggestions on our favorite wineries, shops, places to eat and things to do from a locals perspective! The neighborhood is laid back and family oriented, and just a few minute walk to Maxwell Park. It is also conveniently located close to 3 grocery stores, restaurants (including a great Mexican spot with our favorite burritos and salsa verde) and a coffee shop, and is only 2 miles away from the downtown Sonoma Plaza. We are also located just a mile or so from the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, which has a fantastic spa that features thermal mineral pools unique to Sonoma (they do welcome day guests). We do offer dedicated parking at the cottage. Having a car is the easiest way to get around but if you want to enjoy the MANY wineries in Sonoma without worry, there are a number of companies that offer car service (we would be happy to provide recommendations!)

We enjoyed our time at this quaint, quiet cottage. It's been a few years since my hubby and I vacationed on our own and this was a great spot for us to unwind. This is a great spot for couples or for a girlfriends getaway. If there are more than two people in your party, the space would get a little tight. It works really well for two. Heather was great and easy to get in contact with. We hope to visit again soon. 02 January 2017 - 05:35:00

A perfect place to spend our winter break in Sonoma. The Cottage was well appointed, very comfortable and close to town. Communication with Heather was great. We will definetly look her place up on our next trip to wine country. 06 January 2017 - 16:35:00

The place was very cute. When we walked in we were overwhelmed by a terrible smell which we decided was the smell of someone cooking fish in a non ventilated place. The smell was so overwhelming we had to open everything up (30 -40 degrees) and blast the heater to try and get it to air out. It never did and upon returning home some of our items carried that smell on them. The bathroom is incredible tiny but that is just the design. If I could post a picture I would but I will have to just give a description. The refrigerator is adorable however, if you open it and want to make or get ice for a drink you are out of luck. The freezer is needing defrosted so badly the door is pushed open and I could not even get my fingers into it. The ice cube tray was sitting in the refrigerator with mold growing in it. I am not sure how the person who cleans can over look that. I took a picture because I thought I might be able to post it so the readers would not think I was exaggerating. Not to be nit picky but another thing that was very dirty was the lighting fixtures, they are absolutely adorable. The old jars hanging from the wood but there was so much grease on them from people cooking in the place you could see it from a distance, I am not a clean freak by any means but this was pretty gross. Again, the place is cute however it needs a good cleaning on some areas.. I hope the owners truly read these and maybe they will address these areas. 07 January 2017 - 16:41:00

Love this cozy cottage in a perfect neighborhood. You can walk to a great little brunch at Picazo in the morning. I can't praise the small attention to detail Heather has paid to this cottage. It is full of perfect beautiful decor. It is extremely clean and welcoming. We didn't have a chance to roast smores but the fire pit looked like a great way to spend an evening here. Love this place and Heather was very helpful and accommodating!! She let us park in the parking spot while we were on our wine tour before check in and always answered my emails quickly. Strongly suggest this place for a romantic getaway, a girls trip or any special occasion!! 13 January 2017 - 04:21:00

This was a pleasant cottage that pretty much met up to all of our expectations. Great location that made all the attractions of Sonoma within short reach. I would definitely recommend this place and plan to visit again. 01 June 2017 - 04:34:00

My husband and I stayed here for two days while visiting Sonoma. This place is adorable! So tastefully decorated with great amenities. We arrived to a basket of smore's fixings and bottle of local wine which were such nice additional touches that really made a difference. The cottage was very clean and in great shape and the landscaping was amazing! We had out own little area of the yard with a fire pit - it was very cozy and intimate, and made it feel more like our own space rather than just staying in someone's backyard. The owners are very nice and super welcoming whenever you run into them. The location is also really great - a super quick drive into town. I would definitely recommend this and would love to stay here again if/when we return to Sonoma! 16 April 2014 - 19:07:28

My husband and I recently visited Sonoma/Napa for our anniversary. Heather's Farmhouse Cottage was a perfect place for us to stay! The place is adorable and so clean. Heather was very welcoming and responsive during our time with her. The yard is also beautiful! It is within a few minutes of Sonoma Plaza and many wineries. We would definitely recommend this to friends and would love to stay here again sometime. 01 July 2014 - 18:42:58

Cottage was just lovely. Heather was a great hostess and made sure we had everything we needed upon our arrival. The cottage is just as pictured and perfect for a couple on a romantic getaway. Heather provided good recommendations in the area and made our stay very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again. 18 March 2015 - 15:22:14

We stayed at the Farmhouse chic cottage for a week while exploring wine country. Everything was perfect..the house totally charming and clean, and Heather, Alex, and Allie all a delight. We loved the outdoor space, our private patio, fire pit, and grille. After a day of exploring, we appreciated having a lazy supper whole reminiscing. We would go back to this rental in a heartbeat! 14 May 2015 - 02:01:46

I was very excited when I found this place while planning the honeymoon for our wife and I. It looked like it had a very strong style and would be a comfortable place to explore the area. It most certainly was everything we thought it would be. It has great design and offers everything you could want in a cozy, comfortable package. The owner met us upon our arrival and walked us through everything we needed to know about the cottage and provided us some great recommendations for places to eat and see during our stay. They even had a bottle of wine waiting for us. Additionally, throughout the stay, they were very responsive to anything we needed. And checkout would be a breeze. When we do return in the future, we will have this place at the top of the list. 03 August 2015 - 16:00:40

What a great find this little cottage was! A perfect spot for our family of 3 to relax and unwind. The cottage as very tastefully furnished and super functional, and the outdoor spaces were beautifully landscaped and private enough for us to feel comfortable having a fire and eating meals outside in the perfect Sonoma weather. 04 September 2015 - 17:42:33

We loved our stay, only one night but really all that was promised and more. Easy to find, charming Heather and her daughter, clean and welcoming private little pocket that was our own for a night. Restful and fairly quiet surrounded by more lovely landscaping and fire pit and BBQ area than the photos show. Park like area nearby, just lovely. 07 October 2015 - 02:14:53

Our stay was completely seamless. The cottage is lovely and expertly decorated - and it has all of the essentials. Since we were in town for events, my only regret is that we didn't get to spend more time using the BBQ area and the fire pit! Definitely hope to return :) 13 October 2015 - 15:47:37

This house is a little slice of heaven close to downtown Sonoma. The house is perfectly decorated. There are plenty of towels, dishes, a french press and ground coffee, even creamer in the fridge! The backyard has a fair amount of foliage, enough to feel like you are separated from the main house. There is a local bar/restaurant one block away if you don't feel like driving to get food/drinks. If you are interested in doing winery tours, you will have to drive. There is nothing close by. There are winery tours that offer chartered buses, but you'll have to drive to a central location. Overall, a GREAT stay. Would definitely come back!! 11 November 2015 - 15:06:33

The cottage was just as promised in a beautifully landscaped yard. The only thing that was unclear was the etiquette of when the dogs were in the yard: should we come out or stay inside? Otherwise we had a great long weekend and would definitely recommend or stay again. Thanks. 05 September 2017 - 23:39:00

I stayed here with my husband, son and small dog. This cottage looked like it was straight out of an episode of HGTV. I loved everything about it. Not only was the house absolutely adorable, but the outside garden area was just as nice. Even though this house is in their backyard, it felt separated enough and there was a private little backyard area with a firepit and benches. We all loved it and your hospitality! 05 January 2016 - 05:02:26

This was a cute and perfect size cottage for a couple. It had a few imperfections but nothing that dampened our trip to Sonoma. 13 August 2017 - 01:26:00

While the overall design of the cottage was cute, there are definitely some very noticeable oversights in its maintenance. I agree with Tony's review. Upon entering the cottage, there was a very distinct rank smell. I chalked it up to be the cushions on the trundle day bed, BUT there was another odor that persisted in the bedroom. We left the widows open to air it out for the duration of our stay. (Made for a pretty chilly stay!!) We also kept the heater on 76 degrees, although I felt it did not to much in terms of warming the house. It was also quite noisy, which disrupted our sleep during the night. That was a bummer. I also felt there were some functionality issues. While the vintage fridge is cute, I would love it more if it were functional. The freezer is completely frozen over so i could not freeze my ice packs for the journey home. The brita in the fridge had no filter, so it was basically a carafe for the sink water. The sliding barn door to the bedroom is very charming but I think it needs to be oiled or something. it was VERY difficult to slide open and close. My boyfriend had to open and close it as I was too weak. The water heater might be having some issues as well. The sink water would run warm for about 1 minute than turn cold. It also took the shower forever to heat up. You also needed to put the handle precisely in the correct spot for the shower to get warm. Another downfall I noted was when we entered the premises. You were greeted by very loud barking (from the sounds of it, sounds like big dogs!) This frightened me but especially my small dog. My dog had terrible anxiety the entire stay because he could hear the other dogs barking in the main house. Coming from San Francisco, I was really hoping for a more quiet stay per the other reviews. That was such a let down. And lastly, there was no complimentary bottle of wine or coffee like advertised in the photo. I relied heavily on the 5 star reviews but I did not feel like it was a 5 star worthy rental. Pretty disappointing. Hopefully some of these issues will be addressed in the future. Thank you. 06 February 2017 - 23:16:00
