About listing

This spacious right bank apartment is located in the Marais, just a short walk from Chatelet and Beaubourg. Though located in an area thriving with activity, the apartment is a haven of pure tranquility. Located on a quiet street overlooking a courtyard, this apartment is the perfect choice for your stay in Paris. This sizeable three bedroom apartment is located in the 3rd district, just minutes from Chatelet, on the 1st European floor (2nd US) in a walk up building; no elevator. Located on rue Quincampoix, this narrow street is spotted with small off-beat galleries, and is just a block away from Paris’ colorful Centre Pompidou. The neighborhood is lively, hip and fun. Follow the street south and within minutes you’re at the Seine and Saint Michel right across the river on the left bank. Walk east and you are in the heart of the Marais. This location offers very easy access to all parts of Paris by foot or by using the nearby metro and RER. Yet, you'll feel far removed from the busy Parisian streets nearby in this extremely quiet apartment. The apartment is set back on the courtyard, and is truly an oasis of peace. Even though you cannot hear a single street noise, the owner has added double glazed windows to ensure a quiet stay. With three bedrooms, a large living room/kitchen area, 2.5 bathrooms, the apartment is both comfortable and elegant, perfect for a family or group of friends traveling together. Decorated in the owner’s stylish and contrasting taste, it offers a combination of original stone walls, wooden ceiling beams, a gorgeous arched doorway, and metal support poles, along with added touches of marble and wood. She has blended various decorative styles combining Scandinavian, contemporary, and Marie Antoinette 18th century. The walls are all painted in various shades of taupe, earthy grays, browns and blacks. A perfect blend of warm and cool, modern and traditional. Lots of character with something for everyone! The kitchen, dining room and living room share the same oblong space, allowing for a large family or friends to be close by. In the kitchen there’s a stylish island with marble counter, large tiled floor, shiny contemporary cabinetry and high quality stainless steel appliances, along with just about everything to satisfy your cooking needs. With plenty of room to cook, you can enjoy the 3 burner induction stove top, oven, microwave and even a dishwasher for easy clean up. There's also a kettle for a hot cup of of tea or a Nespresso machine for your morning caffeine fix. Just off the kitchen you'll find a discreet closet with the washer/dryer. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining area, with a wooden guitar-shaped table with seating for up to 8. The living room is just beyond, where you can relax on the cozy couch and chairs around a circular coffee table made of wood and marble, or turn on the flat screen TV which offers several English speaking news channels. Tall windows overlook a courtyard bringing in light and a modern marble fireplace decorates the back of the living room. From decorative bolster pillows and small added touches, the owner has thought of everything to make this home the perfect getaway. Set back slightly at the back of the living room in a hidden corner, is a small reading nook decorated in Marie Antoinette style. Perfect for a quiet moment with a cup of tea or perhaps some wine? Head out the door between the living and dining rooms and into the hallway which leads you to the three bedrooms. The first two bedrooms, which offer a queen or two twins in the first and a double in the second, both have the original ceiling beams and are 9 m2. They each have touches of different periods, a 50's lamp, English curtains from the 70's, and an 18th century style mirror. The hallway, which is lined with small black and white vintage photographs, leads you to the bathroom. Sided with exposed stone wall and modern brown tiling, it has a large walk-in rain shower, accented with small taupe colored tiles, as well as a white modern style sink, stainless towel warmer and WC. At the end of the hallway is the master bedroom (13 m2) offering a queen bed which can be separated into two twins. As with each of the bedrooms, there are shelves and closet space for hanging your belongings, but the master bedroom has the addition of a small desk corner with chair. The bathroom is adjoined to the bedroom through an opening through thick stone wall. The bathroom, which is dark and atmospheric and perfect for a restful bath, has a large bathtub with hand held shower and trough sink with two faucets. Every touch of detail from the mixing of modern comforts to original features brings the aesthetics of this apartment together seamlessly. We were in Paris from June 16th - June 21st 2017. The apartment is decorated beautifully and well stocked. We rented an apartment so we could have more space and flexibility to cook breakfast and light snacks in between exploring Paris. We ate lunch and dinners out everyday/night but we could have easily prepared meals at the apartment. The only challenge we had was the weather because it was unseasonably warm and there is virtually no air conditioning in Paris. (I would not have wanted to cook anything beyond breakfast due to the heat) If AC is important to you for sleeping and relaxing I would recommend a hotel over an apartment if traveling in the summer - but then you would give up the conveniences and space offered in the apartment. There were plenty of fans in the apartment for everyone to sleep comfortably and again, it was unseasonably warm so living without AC is probably not an issue the majority of the time. It was really nice to walk one block from apartment to a grocery store and get coffee, breakfast food, wine, beer, milk, water, etc. It was also nice to be able to have a washer and dryer so you can pack light if you're able. There is one set of stairs to the apartment that are safe and easy to walk up (with railing to hold if traveling with older family)...However, getting a huge suitcase up was a little difficult so traveling with medium/smaller luggage would be helpful in my opinion. The manager was very thorough and we did not have any reason to call for questions once we were given all the apartment instructions. We were also able to check in early. I appreciate any hotel or HomeAway rental that makes an exception to check in and check out times when they are able. The street the apartment is on is described and feels a bit like an alley - however, once you get your bearings you will find it to be a very charming street. I was thankful that it was not a main street in the area at night. I felt as safe as one can feel in Paris on our street and in the apartment. Paris, like NYC is for example, is a city you have to be prepared to visit. You must be diligent in preparing and planning your trip to insure a safe and fun experience. Locking doors, closing windows, walking in groups or with someone (especially if you are a woman) is always necessary in a large busy city and Paris is no exception. It was an amazing trip for myself, mother, sister and our daughters - a perfect 3 generation Paris vacation! 23 June 2017 - 15:46:00

This was an amazing rental! My husband, three teenage kids and I stayed here for three weeks during the summer and had an incredible time. The pictures and description of the apartment are completely accurate. There was plenty of private space for the five of us as well as a very large and inviting common space with a couch that could seat us all. I loved to open the big windows of our 5th floor (American 6th floor) living room and watch the people walk, bike, and drive past below. Because of the layout of the bathrooms, it was almost like having three bathrooms - a luxury in Paris! We cooked many meals in the well-designed and efficient kitchen. The location was excellent. The apartment is at the edge of the Marais, and is located one hundred paces from the Metro, even fewer to the supermarket, and a block from a boulangerie/patisserie. There are lots of restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance, and the metro provided easy access to all of central Paris. The neighborhood always felt safe, even late in the evening. The owners were friendly and extremely responsive. They were very helpful in arranging transportation, both to and from the apartment, and whenever we had problems, they responded instantly via phone/email and had it taken care of immediately. If I could summer here with my family every year, I certainly would! 21 October 2015 - 19:01:34

The cute apartment was perfect for our group, one couple and two singles. Great kitchen fully stocked with pots/pans utensils, coffee maker, etc. Lovely cheese and wine basket provided upon arrival. We were promptly met and shown the property. What you do need to understand though, is that the master bathroom, while beautiful, does not actually have a toilet so you just need to be aware of that and there are 2 toilets elsewhere in the apartment. The lighting in the bedrooms was a little dim for our preferences but that is a minor issue. The apartment is located on an alley and at first I was a little nervous about that but that little alley is a thriving business community with little restaurants and bars and fashion businesses and you are off the main streets so we came to appreciate it. This apartment is about 1 1/2 blocks for the Pompidou Modern Art Museum, walking distance to the Picasso Museum, the Seine, Notre Dame, the Louvre, and the Museum Orsay and walk we did. There is a grocery store and pharmacy around the corner as well as many many restaurants for outdoor dining. Two of us LOVED our beds and wished we could have that comfort at home. I would recommend this apartment to our friends. 21 October 2015 - 19:25:33
