About listing

Don & Laural would like to share their little corner or paradise in Wyoming with you for your lodging needs. As your host and hostess of "Lander Lodging", home of "Wyoming Sinks Canyon Miniature Horse Ranch", we want to make your stay with us as wonderful as possible. What we love here is: the pure taste of freedom, the vibrant smell of fresh air, deep blue sky and sunshine ~300 days of the year. We also love the wide open outdoors with it's variety of terrain offering world class: fishing, hiking, kayaking, climbing, 4-wheeling, mountain biking, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and some of the best hunting in the U.S. We love being one with nature and enjoying proud bugling elk, majestic mule deer, roaming antelope, mischievous squirrels, mysterious llamas, cooing pheasant, and the playful miniature horses. Life doesn't get any better than this! We are located at the mouth of Sinks Canyon is named for it's unique geographical formation, where the river vanishes into a large cavern (called "The Sinks") but reappears downstream in a trout filled pool, "The Rise" about a half mile down the canyon. These trout live a life of leisure measuring upward of 26+ inches, while visitors feed them. Within the wall of Sinks canyon are Wyoming's best: the river, fish and wildlife, the mountains, wildflowers and sage, aspen and pine, a rugged quite country under blue skies. We have a very fun selection of restaurants in Lander,, and we will be happy to show you menus and make suggestions. We also have a fire-pit and a gas grill here on the property that you are welcome to use if you wish to cook something outdoors. Of course this unit is already set up for cooking. The Shoshone National Forest, The Wind River Wilderness and the Red Desert provide many beautiful hiking and four wheeling opportunities. One popular hike to the Popo Agie Falls brings you to a beautiful falls and pools, and if you persist over the granite boulders you will come to a pool with a natural rock slide that people like to use during high water. The Loop Road is a scenic drive, with 4 wonderful lakes you can stop and enjoy. It becomes a wonderful summer playground. You can find the hidden beach or explore the remote adventures on the far side of the lake in Kayaks, the most easy to maneuver of all UN-powered watercraft. We rent our Kayaks only to our guests. They are available at $25 per day. We encourage the buddy system for safety reasons. We will help you strap them on and be happy to make suggestions for our favorite places to paddle. After Hunting Season, the Loop Road becomes a winter playground for Snowmobiles, Snow Bikes, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. (Wild Iris and Gannet Peak Sports rent cross country skis and snowshoes.) Here on the property we have a fabulous sledding hill and tubes which are only available to our guests. For guest who would love the thrill of a snowmobiling experience, but don't have snow machines of their own. We will let you use our old machines in our attached field for just a little more than the cost of gas and maintenance, estimated to be $30 and hour, and yes we are happy to pro-rate the time after the first hour, and even spit the first hour between two machines. The Museum of the West - (1.6 miles ) has done a wonderful job of restoring a lot of old buildings and artifacts. Was a beautiful home ! Three bedrooms that we're exceptionally appointed and a huge bathroom. The views were outstanding along with the owners. We will return here again as we have family in the area . Thank you for having such a grand place. 27 May 2017 - 11:36:00

Owners are great to work with. The property is fun for kids with miniature horses, chickens, fire pit for roasting marshmallows, swing set and lots of room to roam and explore. The wi-fi worked great. Close to town. I would definitely recommend this property to others. 16 June 2017 - 05:45:00
  3. This property was amazing! The owners have created a space that is relaxing but also very kid friendly. Our two children had a blast with the animals on the property - chickens, llamas, and, of course, the miniature horses. There was also a running creek wherein the owners have built a little swimming pond along with two beautiful bridges and a sandy beach area. The grounds are covered in aspens, cottonwoods and other native foliage. The apartment itself had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated. The property is located approximately 1 mile from Lander proper and just at a few minutes drive to the Sinks. We cannot wait to stay there again! 24 June 2017 - 12:25:00

Quiet and peaceful. The working farm is a great experience and the kids watched a foal being born. Nice and close to the Sinks Canyon and Shoshone Forest and easy access to Lander. 09 July 2017 - 14:28:00

The only bad point about our stay is that it wasn't long enough. The apartment is clean, beautiful views and very modern. The owners were so accomadating. They allowed us to use their BBQ, visit with the minature horses and celebrate our grandsons 1st Birthday. Hope to stay with them again 18 August 2017 - 16:12:00

We really enjoyed this property. The home was comfortable and all 3 bedrooms were quite large and the bedding was awesome! The property was loads of fun. The mini horses were hilarious and fun to feed and interact with, my kids loved them. The llamas were really fun too. The owners were incredibly sweet and helpful. We got separated from our family and a cell phone broke and they helped out SO much. I would highly recommend staying here, especially with kids that love animals! Lander is gorgeous and this rental was wonderful. 24 August 2017 - 00:05:00

My husband and I and our 5 kids traveled to Lander for a graduation and found Lander Lodging to be just what we were looking for in a vacation rental. Plenty of comfortable beds with nice bedding, simple but tasteful furniture, and a well set up kitchen with everything we needed to cook our own meals, including the outdoor bbq. The location on the mini horse farm is picturesque and serene. Don and Laural were very friendly and hospitable hosts and were easy to work with. They let us host a gathering of our extended family for a barbecue and the kids had a blast roaming the property and petting the horses. Some things you might want to know which were not clear to us before we booked, (but weren't a problem for us) are that you are sharing the house with the owners, though you have total privacy. Also there is only one bathroom though there is sleeping for 6. All in all, we really enjoyed staying at the Lander Lodging. 17 May 2017 - 04:52:00
