There are two bathrooms, one is ensuite. Every room has air conditioning. The apartment is on the second floor (immediately above the ground floor), it is 50 metres from Nevsky prospekt, 150 metres from palace square & the Hermitage, it is very central! It has 2 sofa beds one in the living room & one in the sitting room, so could sleep up to 8. History of the House Jako: In the middle of the XVIII century the land on the which the house was built was occupied by a temporary palace of Empress Elizabeth. After dismantling of the palace there were the royal kitchens and the Throne Hall. The Throne Hall was then given to sculptor E. Falcone for work on the monument to Peter the Great also know as the 'Bronze Horseman'. Falcone moved here in 1766 & he rebuilt the building which housed the former palace kitchen. He set up a scaffold for his work in the yard. In 1773, Falcone was visited by his friend the french philosopher Diderot, he stayed in the house until 1778, when he returned to France. After the departure of the French the site housed a warehouse of marble for the construction of a number of buildings which gave rise to the naming of the laneway at the side of the bulding: Kirpichny (brick) lane. In 1801 the site owned by a merchant, the Prussian consul in St. Petersburg, when a residential two-storey house was built. In 1822 his heirs divied the land in two, the side adjacent to the Bolshaya Morskaya Street in 1836 was sold to architect Paul Jaco who designed many historical buildings in St. Petesburg. In the years 1837-1838 Jaco built the current four-story building. Iron girders were used in the construction of first floor windows - an innovation in the local civil engineering. In 1842 Faberge started his business with the openning of a workshop in the basement. During the 1860s Chief Marshal Count Ivan M. Tolstoy lived in hosue Jaco, who had been former Senator and Minister of Posts and Telegraphs, a member of the State Council. Jaco house remained in the his family until 1917. In the 1930s the kirpichny (brick) lane end of the house become the 'House of Artists', or an artists commune.

This is a great apartment in a great location, only a block off Nevsky Prospekt. There are two bedrooms and two showers (one bath). There is also a couch that pulls out into a bed. In our bath/shower there was always hot water, though in the other, hot water was a little spotty. It has new appliances: stove, washer, microwave. New parquet floors (take you shoes off like all Russians do). Tatyana is very knowledgeable and helpful, though her English is spotty. I speak Russian so that was not a problem. If there is a criticism, it would be that the the place could use a couple of coffee tables in front of the two couches. All in all I highly recommend this as a place to stay in St. Petersburg. 10 June 2014 - 14:14:34

We had a wonderful stay in the apartment in St. Petersburg during the White Nights. The location is perfect and the wide window sills in the kitchen and living room are great for people watching. Everything was within footsteps of the apartment, including the ATM, groceries, and of course the Hermitage. The apartment is spotless and well provisioned. The Wifi was a big plus, as was the complementary Chrome Book on the desk in the living room. We were 7 adults so we used the fold-outs in the living room and kitchen. Everyone was comfortable. We would definitely come back or recommend it to friends! 02 July 2014 - 13:14:27

20 August 2014 - 14:27:03

Everything went well. Very professional service. The flat is fantastic, brand new and central. We much appreciated the quality of the details and the taste of the furniture. The deposit was paid back quickly and without difficulty. The contact before, during and after was excellent. Really to be recommended! 08 August 2016 - 07:34:21

The apartment in St. Petersburg was magnifico! Luxurious, spacious, spotless and extremely well equipped. The kitchen was a dream! We loved the dining area with its three-pane bay window, giving us a panoramic view of life in St. Petersburg. We were extremely grateful for the opportunity to question both the owner and his staff on our concerns of the moment, they were gracious. The location of the apartment was equally fabulous; we were within a five-minute walk of almost all of St. Petersburgs highlights including the grand metro, mere moments away. The restaurants in the immediate vicinity were top-notch at every level. One couldnt ask for more! 21 December 2016 - 10:58:08

We loved staying in this apartment. My husband and I and another couple were in St. Petersburg for a week this month. This apartment was perfect. It was very tastefully redone and has all of the amenities one would want. The kitchen was completely equipped. The eating area and living room are very large. Although on a centrally located and busy street, we heard no street noise in the apartment. It has a phone, TV, and laptop computer and printer, and even air conditioning in each room. (We actually had four days of warm weather.) There is a washer, dishwasher, microwave, full refrigerator/freezer, and stove. It was convenient to many St. Petersburg sites and restaurants. There is a decent supermarket two blocks away, a wonderful bakery around the corner. and a bank with a good exchange rate across the street. It is also one block from the metro. This apartment made a great contribution to a rich and enjoyable week in St. Petersburg. Put St. Petersburg on your list, and stay in this apartment! 26 July 2017 - 13:31:00

Fabulous apartment with tons of amenities, exceptionally clean, comfortable and beautifully appointed. It's as nice as the photos and lives up to all of it's positive reviews. Owners are extremely helpful and thoughtful. Location is absolutely fantastic - less than 2 blocks to the Hermitage. I would return to this apartment in a heartbeat. Don't stay anywhere else - this place is great! 29 March 2011 - 03:34:50

We stayed in this awesome apartment for several weeks in December 2010. The owners are so great!! They really have a beautiful place and are so generous to rent it out to travelers. They are very gracious people and are there to help you in any way they can. We have small children and they helped us find things for them to do in the middle of the winter. They also helped us with directions and tourist ideas, et al. They are really awesome people and feel really fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet them and stay in their beautiful home. The location of this apartment is great as well. It was comforting to our children to know they could walk down the stairs to McDonalds if we needed to :)....definitely an advantage since we were staying in Russia for several weeks. The rooms are very large and there is plenty of room for a family of 4 to 6. The upgrades in this apartment are so beautiful. Whether you are a couple looking for a romatnic get a way or a family with children - this apartment is just perfect! If we ever have the opportunity to return to St. Petersburg, this is definitely the place we would stay! Good luck! 28 March 2011 - 06:01:54

We, three work colleagues from Finland, stayed in this apartment for three days - and wished we could have stayed longer. The apartment is situated literally next to Nevsky prospekt which makes it a perfect base for walking around the heart of St. Petersburg. For example, it takes only five minutes to walk to the Hermitage and ten minutes to the Kazan Cathedral, where is also the nearest metro station to take you to further away places. The apartment itself is beautiful. Each room is decorated and furnished with a real sense of style - and with love and care. There is absolutely nothing we could complain about the apartment. We wanted to move in! 23 June 2011 - 11:19:55

We second the reviews posted about this apartment. A not so small matter of non-European tourists - the owners provide a cell phone so you can text them with your questions or make calls in Russia. All you have to do is replace the "card" for a 100 rubles when it runs out. The lady who takes care of the apartment and who gives you the keys does NOT speak English, so if you are not sure about something, engage in some "sign language" or demonstrate that you are following the right directions for the washer, oven, etc. The owners leave explicit directions which you will find on the desk in the living room. The availability of air-conditioning during the buggy Piter summers is a blessing and a aid for blocking out city noises. 28 September 2011 - 17:50:52

Our stay in St. Petersburg was fantastic. The flat is very modern, open and airy. It was perfectly located within walking distance to all attractions and the kitchen was very convenient for making a few meals at home. It easily slept 6 people and it was obvious that much care and attention has gone into this place as it has all the comforts of home, including a speedy Internet connection! The owners were very helpful when it came to answering questions about visa registration, arranging taxis and being flexible with check in and check out times. Our deposit was returned promptly after check out. We would absolutely recommend anyone to stay in this flat given the opportunity!! 24 May 2012 - 18:31:54

All was exactly as described. The owners are very helpful, and of course honest. The apartment is very clean, tastefully decorated, and and the kitchen is a treat. The location was incredible -- just off Nevsky Prspt, a few hundred meters from the Hermitage. Restaurants very convenient, as was food and beer/wine/spirits shopping. The McDonalds downstairs was not an issue -- even at night we could never hear noise -- since the walls are so thick. We were there for a week, and the apartment made life easy for us. 06 July 2012 - 17:23:47

We just returned from two chilly but fabulous weeks in St. Petersburg. The day after we returned home, I checked the calendar for this property's availability in June! I can't imagine staying anywhere else. The location is better than perfect, and the apartment has everything you could possibly need or want. I had a couple of questions after we arrived, and I was able to get those answered immediately. I can't think of any reason to hesitate - this should be your first choice for a vacation rental in St. Petersburg! 10 January 2013 - 01:19:21

Apartment was great. Small issue with hot water but overall very satisfactory time and good value for money. Person taking care of the apartment did seem to be a little short and hard to communicate with in English. Extremely central location and we walked to all major in town activities. 12 June 2013 - 20:50:04

    - we loved the location- very near the Hermitage and walking distance from everything we wanted to see. A 20-25 minute walk straight down Nevksy from the train station. - excellent condition, extremely clean, and equipped with everything you will need, including dishwasher and clothes washer, Wifi. Even a computer, printer and local cell phone! - filtered water system was great as Lonely Planet recommends against drinking tap water - the owners (Peter and Yana) were great and very responsive throughout the entire process from booking to staying to damage deposit refund - some street noise (people and traffic) throughout the night because it is so central and a 2nd floor. Hard to avoid unless staying well out of the core and away from major roads, which even then is no guarantee. No noise at all from adjacent apartments. - lots of restaurants of all price ranges nearby, plus lots of stores where it was easy to buy the basics for breakfast and other meals - Hermitage tip: buy the 2 day pass online and in advance (not available at the Hermitage). Not much more than a 1 day and you will want the extra time. - we have friends visiting St P next year and have recommended the try to book Peter and Yana's place 15 October 2013 - 15:05:49
