About listing

Ideal West Village location at the corner of Bedford and Christopher streets. A minute walk from the famous Bleecker Street and two blocks from the beautiful Hudson River Park. The apartment is located in the Greenwich Village Historical District and is a part of a Greek revival townhouse build in 1847. The building and the apartment are well preserved and maintained. Very close to shopping, cafes, galleries, bars, many different restaurants and much more! Everything is nearby including grocery shops, laundry services, playgrounds for children and different types of transportation for traveling all over Manhattan (Subway, Path train, Buses,). This is a cozy, warm, comfortable and fully equipped apartment. One out of two apartments in a private townhouse, 5-6 steps above the street level. Perfect for 1 or 2 couples, a couple with kids or 2 singles. House manual: This is a real one bedroom apartment with high ceiling, huge french windows, hardwood floors, lots of light and so much character. It has a nice living room with a sofa bed (full sized bed), a dining table for 4 to 6 people and an old original fireplace (not to be used). Each room has an independent TV and a cable set. Internet WiFi is available throughout the apartment. One bedroom with a very comfortable queen-sized bed. A small and well-equipped kitchen, one bathroom with tub and plenty of closet space. Towels and linen are provided. If needed, a twin-sized air mattress is also provided for guests to use, as well as linen for extra guests. Firstly, the customer service is first-rate. Oded, the owner, and Yossi, the manager are ever available and accomadating . Having lived in New York in my student years, I must say that it is rare to be provided such prompt and genuine attention in matters of real estate in the city. The location on the corner of Bedford leads you down a beautifully maintained street with historical townhouses which are simply elegant. Additionally, there are several intimate eateries on Bedford serving a variety of cuisines You will note French fare, Mid-Eastern health food, Italian paninis and even a South American spot. Lastly, the apartment is nothing short of perfection. The owner's wife has provided a well stocked kitchen, ample linen, swagged drapes, two flat screened T V's, lovely art pieces and my favorite, a pristine white flowering plant..memorable, indeed. We are already planning our return springtime stay. 29 October 2012 - 18:53:03

This apartment is exactly as described. It's very clean, cosy, well equipped (incl. WiFi), and close to everything (shops, grocery store, restaurants, theatres, subway and bus). The new Whitney Museum is only a short walk away and the Hudson is just a couple of blocks down Christopher St. The outdoor patio overlooking Chris St is a wonderful bonus. Security is good; noise from the busy street is not a problem; Tair, the owner, is friendly and responds to queries very promptly. Highly recommended. 21 July 2015 - 07:37:08

One of our better experiences with HomeAway. This apartment is just great, the location cannot be better. And most importantly working with the owners is excellent. This apartment is truly warm enough to feel like home, perfect weather to enjoy sitting on that great patio for us. I definitely would recommend this property to anyone and hope to be able to stay here again. Great restaurants near by, easy walk to subway. You just cannot find anything to complain about. Thanks Tair. 22 July 2014 - 02:42:58

Visited in July 2015. If you want the real New York Feel stay here we loved it! It was easy to find and easy to get the key and that is great when you have traveled all day. We loved the patio's ! You can't find private patio's like this in a hotel. Good location easy to get to everything. 10 October 2015 - 15:42:59

We stayed for 10 days in October and found that the apartment was completely as advertised. The location was perfect for us, with close proximity to public transport and many places to eat, drink and be entertained, especially for jazz enthusiasts. When travelling, we choose to stay in apartments wherever possible, and our time in Christopher Street has reaffirmed that choice. Communication with Tair was never a problem and she responded promptly to any queries. We would certainly recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a home away from home in New York City. In the local area, we particularly enjoyed the Kettle of Fish (a friendly bar in Christopher St) and Rockmeisha - a quirky little Japanese Izakaya in Barrow Street. 06 December 2015 - 04:06:02

This is a great apartment in a great part of town. I stayed for 5 days and loved the proximity to subway, dining, and other activities. The owners are easy to work with, very responsive and it was easy to gain access to the apartment for our stay. My reasons for 4 stars instead of 5: * I stayed with my son and needed two beds - the couch does fold out to a bed but it is extremely uncomfortable! My son just ended up sleeping on the couch (without the bed). If you only need one bed, you will be fine! * They did not provide any washcloths and only 2 hand towels. Small nitpicky item I realize but for 2 people and several days it was a bit of a bummer. Overall great place and I'm sure you'll enjoy the stay! 18 November 2016 - 15:14:24

We had a fantastic stay here. Even though it's in the heart of the village, the apartment is surprisingly quiet. Plenty of space and everything you need. I only wish the weather had cooperated to allow us to take advantage of private terrace. Many thanks Tair. 28 April 2017 - 07:54:00

We have stayed in several different apartments in the West Village and this was by far the largest! The location is excellent for restaurants, bars museums, subways, even off-Broadway theatres (we saw a show at the Cherry Lane) and the Lucille Lortel is right across the street.) Although we did not meet Tair because she was out of town, communication was good and entrance to the apartment was easy. Only 4 stars because, unlike others, we felt the noise was a problem, especially the Path trains pulling in. It was much worse in the daytime though, I guess they stop running after a certain time at night. Funny, because you could not hear them outside on the street! Also water in shower never got hot enough even though the sink was scalding. Favorite nearby restaurants: A.O.C., Cowgirl's, Gaetana's, Phillip Marie. Favorite nearby bars: Ty's (gay), Marie's Crisis (Broadway sing-a-long) 05 May 2017 - 17:14:00

I loved the location of this place. Was working as a consultant in the city and to have a place to come home to every night that felt like home was a pleasure. Having a big bathroom and a separate bedroom was great as well as a small outdoor patio area. 19 August 2017 - 17:49:00

The flat is very nice with lots of sunlight. The bed is excellent. We liked the near access to the Hudson River Park, fine restaurants & coffee houses. All together highly recommended. 23 August 2017 - 15:08:00

We loved our stay in this charming, cozy home for our week-long spring get-away. Booking and communication with owner and manager was very easy. They even provided the contact to book a car back to the airport - so much easier than bus or shuttle and reasonably priced. Part of a historic brownstone, this one bedroom home was a great landing spot at the end of a long day of being NYC tourists. We walked everywhere. The authentic NY neighborhood was a true highlight, lots to walk to and close to subway, and worth exploring the 'hood right outside the door. So much better than a cramped, overpriced hotel. The bedroom was spacious and comfy for two, might get a bit crowded for more than a couple or small family. Not much of a closet for hanging clothes. It was a bit weird to enter the house right into the bedroom. Kitchen is tiny, only one person can fit in there, but had all the amenities we needed as we only ate breakfast "at home." Bathroom was spacious and fully supplied. Living room was the perfect size and comfort to unwind and relax. House was clean and well equipped. We'll be back, Tair! 12 August 2013 - 05:01:00

We stayed here for 3 weeks. Listing and photos accurate. It was comfortable for 2 people. Everything worked ac was quiet. Already booked for return visit in March. Note the subway rumble is nothing. I'm a light sleeper and this apartment is quiet. Bed is heavenly. Service incredible - responded promptly to a small plumbing problem. and deposit refunded promptly also. note that the garden is shared with the other unit in the bldg so let them know if you plan a dinner party also need to go out the street entryway to enter the patio. Location is fabulous - we are from NY now live in San Francisco and just love this location- it is very difficult to find a quiet place in NY also its bright and sunny 14 November 2013 - 21:53:02

We stayed 6 nights through New Years. We loved this apartment. There were 3 adults and 2 infants. All of us fit, no problem. The neighborhood is great! Pictures are accurate, booking was easy, location couldnt be better. Close to food, subway, entertainment, and everything you could possibly need. Deposit was refunded immediately and Tair was easy to get a hold of. We will book again if it is available. 09 January 2014 - 17:23:16

I have stayed in a number of apartments in New York. This one is simply the best. Four well appointed rooms: bedroom/lounge-dining/small kitchen/bathroom. The bed is very comfortable. Just a few steps up into the apartment from the Christopher/Bedford St corner. There is a never ending choice of restaurants within easy walking of the apartment. Despite the business of the street, day and night, the apartment was quiet. Public transport is just a few steps away: subways and buses. There is a marvellous private patio up a ladder which has views down onto Christopher St - the patio is a great place to unwind with coffee or a glass of wine. A supermarket is close. The Hudson River is just a couple of blocks away. Tair responded to emails within minutes and addressed any problems immediately. WiFi is good. 02 March 2014 - 20:48:35

This is a great apartment with a lot of New York charm. It's two short blocks from the subway, crawling distance to a number of good local restaurants, in the heart of an absolutely beautiful neighbourhood that tour groups regularly roam through. The bars can get a touch lively on Christopher Street on the weekend evenings, but it's fun to perch on the outdoor patio and watch the world go by. The subway rumble underneath the building is noticeable but not a big deal. The apartment was clean, had everything we needed, was a good size for New York and suited our family of two adults and 1 six year old to a T. It's very nice to be able to put your kid to sleep, then close the door and be able to read/talk/drink tea/watch TV/whatever in the other room. Owner is responsive, great to deal with and the damage deposit was quickly refunded. We would definitely stay there again. 30 September 2014 - 22:45:46

This is a terrific little apartment in the heart of the West Village... a couple of blocks from the river (and great walking) on one side and three short blocks to the bustle of 7th Avenue on the other. For me, it's hard to imagine a better location in the city (I've been going once or twice a year for fifteen years. I used to stay on the Upper Westside but like the Village much better.) There are four or five great jazz clubs within four blocks, including my fav, the Village Vanguard and Smalls, and the restaurant scene is unbelievable... so many great spots within easy walking distance (Buvette, Fedora, Barbuto, The Little Owl, to name just a few that we tried). There are subway stops on 7th and Ave of the Americas (6th), so it's quick to get anywhere. The apartment itself is small (aren't they all!) but perfectly adequate and well equipped and the owner responded promptly to any issues raised. We'll be back next year! 08 November 2014 - 01:08:03

We stayed for four nights and were very pleased with the accommodations. It was very clean which is my number one requirement. The apartment is small (NYC) and has a bedroom, living/dining room, small kitchen and nice size bathroom so it is much nicer than being in a small hotel room. It was a hot week in the city and the air conditioning worked well as did the wifi. It was quiet and easy to sleep after walking all day. The location is great and very convenient to everything (lots of restaurants, jazz and entertainment) in the Village as well as lower downtown. Tair gave clear instructions and was easy to work with. We got the key and got into the apartment with no problems. I would definitely stay here again. 07 October 2015 - 22:49:51

We enjoyed spending a week here in early August. As other reviewers have noted, the West Village location on Christopher Street between Bedford and Hudson is excellent within walking distance of anywhere in lower Manhattan you want to visit. The number of restaurants nearby is overwhelming; you could spend a month going to a different Italian restaurant no further than a ten minute walk away and barely scratch the service. The apartment is a full one-bedroom size. It is well appointed, with nice touches such as many hooks and racks. Furnishings have character and are decidedly non-Ikea. There was good water pressure in the shower and sinks, although the water temperature of the bathroom sink was a bit erratic. The bed and sheets are very comfortable. The apartment is only about eight steps up from a very lively street, but it was not noisy. The apartment has large windows and gets plenty of sunlight during the day. I was concerned about the heat level when we arrived, with the outside temperature in the high 80s during the day and still extremely warm at night. Fortunately, the single air conditioning unit in the living room was strong enough to keep the entire apartment, including the bedroom, comfortable. Tair, who managed the rental, was a pleasure to work with. She provided information for easy arrival, and was very accommodating to our requests on arrival and departure times. When the refrigerator was not working properly, she arranged for its almost immediate resetting so that it worked fine. We received a full refund of our damage deposit within a couple business days. I conclusion, I would not hesitate to recommend renting this apartment. 12 October 2015 - 14:43:02
