This property is all about its location. It's a 15 minute stroll to the Staten Island Ferry or a 2 minute $10 taxi ride. The property has all the basics required for a family 'doing' Manhatten and needing a place to sleep in between. It's nicely spread out over two floors so, in our case, the kids had upstairs while we had the downstairs area to ourselves. Yes it's basic, but it offers brilliant value for money when compared to the price of hotels in Manhatten. It has everything in the Kitchenette you need to make breakfast and snacks and there is a handy little deli next door which provides all the basics needed..... And they were nice people too. The owner was very helpful and so I would have no hesitation recommending his property 15 August 2016 - 11:10:00

01 January 2017 - 18:22:45

Older Victorian that has plenty of room. The house is functional, but not fancy. If you're looking for a place to rest your head after a long day in the city, this is it. Short walk, cab, bus ride to Staten Island Ferry 16 October 2015 - 21:49:39

Nikolay is great to work with - I highly recommend this place when traveling to NYC. Easy walk to the ferry, plenty of small shops nearby. House is very spacious and has everything you need. Great place. 12 November 2015 - 19:36:03

We arrived after dark and couldn't see the dip in the driveway where the concrete ended but there was enough parking for two vehicles. We were also at first disappointed that the pictures didn't show the property in the most accurate light. There were some cracks in the walls, and it felt that the place hadn't been rented for a while because there was a light layer of dust over everything. There were nine of us in our party - 2 couples and 5 kids. There are two bedrooms on the 3rd floor with a bathroom, and 1 bedroom on the 2nd floor with a bathroom down the hall along with the kitchen/living room area. There was plenty of space for everyone - my husband and I took one bedroom, the other couple stayed in another with their son, and the four girls shared the last bedroom. The bed that we slept in was just a mattress on a bed frame without a box-spring. Neither bathroom has a tub, which is greatly missed when you have sore feet after walking in the city all day. Also they only provided bath towels, no washcloths or hand towels. The addition of a shower chair would be great! The toilet in the 2nd floor bathroom was a tankless commercial affair that surprised me, but worked fine. The heated floors in the bathroom were nice, but there weren't any instructions on how to work the control. We stayed four nights, and were comfortable considering that we weren't in the house that much. The internet worked great. The walk to the ferry wasn't very long, but note that you have to go up and down a hill, which is hard when your tired. One day we caught the bus outside the house with no problem because it was raining. It delivered us straight to the ferry. I didn't go into the little store next door, but my husband and our friend went and found everything we needed for breakfast. Another note, there was an iron, but no ironing board, so we made do with a towel over the table. I would probably stay at the property again, I just wanted to give a few of the details that you can't see in the pictures. Because of the stairs the property isn't good for persons with limited mobility, and the banisters were a great temptation for the kids in my group. 07 April 2016 - 23:43:38

We rented this apartment for a week in April. We were 4 adults and 3 kids, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The location is great, but the house is not as clean as it could be. The first night we were there, we found a bed bug in the foldable bed in wich my daughter was supposed to sleep. We called the owner, he came right away, threw the mattress away and brought a brand new one a few minutes later. We had a problem with the electrical outlet in the kitchen, but the owner came and fixed it. There was no hand towels, paper towels and dish cloth to wash the dishes, which was really inconvenient. There was also very strong smells in the apartment. Some workers were digging in the front yard and seemed to be trying to fix this problem the day we left. We didn't ask for it, but the owner gave us a 100$ rebate the day before we left. I wouldn't go back to the apartment because the bed bug really scared me. We didn't see any other bug of this type during our stay, but I still had to clean everything with hot water when we got back home, just to make sure. 11 May 2016 - 17:41:06

. 02 August 2017 - 21:04:00

Our family enjoyed our Thanksgiving Weekend stay in Nickolay's place. It is very well located and there was ample room for our group of six to sleep. We enjoyed the radiant heat from the bathroom floor and large shower. The apartment could use a good dusting, but it was generally clean. There are ample bath towels but no wash cloths or kitchen towels, but since we had brought our own, this was no problem. The furniture in the living room is not very comfortable, but we were fine. There was a Fios remote, but the tv didn't seem to have cable service. The kitchen is limited: two electric burners, microwave oven, crockpot, fridge and coffee maker. We did enjoy the toys that Nickolay had thoughtfully provided. Our ten year old enjoyed the blocks and train cars that were in the toy basket. 08 December 2017 - 20:36:00

We (4 adults) stayed for 3 nights. Huge space, lots of room! Very clean! Very close to the Staten Island Ferry - 2 minute drive, probably a 15-20 minute walk. Small grocery next door was extremely convenient. Safe neighbourhood. Would definitely stay here again!! 10 October 2017 - 11:02:00

Great location and size! We had 8 in our family and needed some space, and easy access into the city, and this was great. The local bus stop was right in front of the house, and took to to the Staten Island Ferry in 10 minutes. From there, the ferry runs every half hour, 24 hours, and drops you off at the tip of Manhattan. Right next door there is a market, laundry, and take out chinese food. Also on the day we were leaving, our flight was at 5pm, our host let us keep our bags at the house another few hours, so we could enjoy the day. We will return! Book it! 27 September 2017 - 15:43:00

The location was convenient to ferry. 20 minute walk or 8 dollars to park car in ferry lot per day. Free on sundays. Beds were comfortable and linens were fresh. Plenty of towels and linens. House could use a good cleaning though overall was a great stay. 20 June 2017 - 23:20:00

11 October 2017 - 17:00:00

If you are looking for a place that is low cost and practical, stay here and save. It is simple, but saves a lot of money. Our party was made up of 7 adults, and there was plenty of room for us all. Everything was as advertised. The owner, Nickolay, was friendly, quick to respond to any questions and easy to work with. On the same street of the house, there is a laundromat and a Chineses restaurant. Next door is a little grocery store with pretty much everything you need. A mile away is Key Foods, located at 155 Bay Street for a larger selection. For fresh meat, we walked to Jersey Street and bought at a very reasonable price, meat from Vinnie's Meat. The neighbors were friendly, even offering us free potatoes once as we were walking home! We walked the mile to and from the free ferry (the walk from the house to the ferry is uphill a lot of the way) and spent time touring Manhattan Island. We used "Statue Cruises" to book months in advance (a must to get in) a tour of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Well worth the price. On days we wanted to get up to Central Park and Times Square, we bought metro tickets which were $2.75 a ride. Other than that, once you leave the ferry and if you are happy to walk, much can be seen without transportation. There is a taxi service that charges $8 for the one-way ride from the ferry to the house for those who would rather relax and a bus service as well. For those unaccustomed to the big city, it was nice to get away from the business and retreat to a home where it was quiet. And although the ferry ride is 30 minutes one way and the walk to the house about 20 minutes (for adult legs), it was a great way to unwind and talk about the day. The ferry ride takes you by the Statue of Liberty on one side, and Governor's Island/Brooklyn Bridge on the other. Chat with the workers on the ferry--they offer up great insight into life in NYC and are friendly. A great way to slow down after a fast paced day. 26 June 2017 - 15:41:00
