Accommodation was as described and very accessible to public transportation, especially to and from the airport via the MTR or Airport Bus. There are lots of food options in the vicinity. This is my second time to stay at Venessa's place, and would definitely stay again in one of my future trips to Hongkong. 11 July 2016 - 06:41:13

I hate that I only do reviews when I have something negative to say, so I am going to make sure that I give Venessa and her place credits for what she and her colleagues did well as well as maybe areas of improvement Each time that I had a questions, the local helper, Hei, was extremely courteous and prompt with her answers and solutions. Very responsive owner and local helper. I had issues with the bathroom having an urine-like odor ,the shower drain flowing slowly and the shower door was hard to close , and Hei addressed all the issues the very next day when we were out. She also replaced a water kettle and fixed some outlet and plug compatibility issues quickly for me so I can use the hot water kettle. When I first arrived, the building was older than I had expected and the external corridor was definitely older constructions with a section of open hallway between the two sides of the building (high rise). The corridor has an incense and greasy smell. The level of cleanliness which I had expected from VRBO rentals is different from what I had found. I do not feel that it was clean like the previous vacation homes that I had used through VRBO in the US. Maybe it is the old stains on the walls or the old building smell of the flat. There were dirty cleaning rags under the kitchen sink with hair and dried dust on it and I was wondering if those were what the cleaning crew used to clean the place after each use. The kitchen was tidy but not entirely "clean". I was able to wipe off grime and dirt from the window sills, floor and counter top. The kitchen vent has a lot of old grease. The urine smell that emanating from the drain near the shower returned after just 1-2 days after. The washing machine is nice but you need to buy your own detergent. Do not expect clothing to dry overnight or even for couple of days depending on when you are going to Hong Kong. The climate is very humid and it is hard for clothes to dry, especially if it is a rainy day or early Spring. Since this is an older unit and there are window AC units, your clothing would dry when the AC is on. However, due to cost of electricity, the durability and capacity of window units, we were strong discouraged by the local contact from running the AC while we were out. I gave up on using the washing machine to do any laundry. There is a laundry service that charges by weight around the corner of Parkes and Bowring Street that was run by a very sweet lady. Her store opens from 8:30 am... 17 December 2017 - 03:37:47
