Just as pictured. Nicer in reality! Easy to work with the host, and very accommodating service. Both of us said, "this is the nicest, and most affordable, place we've stayed in NYC (and we have stayed in a lot)". 05 February 2015 - 15:45:29

Great stay at Sanctuary (as usual). Second time in the hotel, and everything was perfect. It is a very good chance to stay in NYC at great prices, where you can cook your own food. Only "downsize" would be the lack of cleaning services, so you have to make-up everything during your stay. But it isn't really a big deal. Would stay there again without second thought! Thanks!! 11 March 2015 - 19:12:03

We were very pleased with our stay. It is in a convenient location to access the city. Wide options in neighborhood restaurants. Whole Foods within walking distance. Room was very clean and quiet. Complete kitchen gave us options for meals. The staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast options limited. Would stay again! 17 March 2015 - 22:42:35

The staff are very considerate and patient - check on arrival, flexible to meet someone on arrival. There is not a 24/7 concierge but a number to call and it felt safe. It was as advertised. You can hear the quiet murmur of other guests but it was not intolerable and I was out a lot. The room was large and had everything you needed. The location is good, places to eat, can walk to other places within 30 minutes, more residential but bumped into a crew filming a hit TV show set. The free breakfast is really helpful and I went for my first yoga class during my stay. A good balance between an air bnb and a hotel so I felt more at home in a big city like NYC. 25 March 2015 - 10:45:45

Great location if you want to see a lesser-seen part of New York City, lots of character in the neighborhood. The property is clean and filled with light and the staff could not have been nicer. We will return! 12 March 2015 - 10:53:12

My stay at the Sanctuary was delightful - the suite was roomy and cozy, and everything inside was brand new. The location is superb- Manhattan's lower is side is a vibrant neighborhood full of trendy eateries and hang outs. 06 May 2015 - 16:27:27

One of the nicest places we've stayed in Manhattan. It was a quiet retreat from the city, beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. The subway is nearby so it's easy to get to wherever you need to go. We would definitely come back. 06 May 2015 - 17:10:06

Overall the suite was very good, spacious, clean and with all the facilities to make our stay convenient. Also good location in a relatively quiet (to Manhattan standard) and not too touristy neighbourhood. The only general qualification is that, unlike a hotel, there is no 24/7 reception so if you have a problem/question outside office hours or on weekends, you could wait some time before it is solved. Also there is no breakfast on weekends. However, here are some minor points that could have been better: - Venetian blind didn't work correctly - TV didn't work for the first 2 days (we needed to wait for someone to be available at the reception before it could be fixed) and then again for the last night - There was a dishwasher but no dishwasher soap so we couldn't use it - So we did the washing up manually but there was no tea towel - Breakfast was always the same and not a large choice but it was okay - Curtain on the back door lets some light go through so it's not completely dark in the room at night In conclusion, I would recommend this place if you want to experience New York other than the tourist way but if you want more services (e.g. full-time reception) you could find hotels for about the same prices. 02 November 2013 - 14:31:45

We have stayed in New York many times, in almost every area of the city and as usual, it is always a bit nerve wracking when you choose somewhere different. In this case, from the booking, communication, help and kindness of all of the staff, our stay with various family and friends in three separate rooms over a 10 day period could not have been better. We got to experience the queen suites Hanuman and Shiva and the 1 bedroom (2 queen beds) Rama and each suite was spotlessly clean, well appointed, had extremely comfortable beds, smooth and soft linens, hot showers with fantastic water pressure, fluffy towels, shiny new appliances, sleek hardwood floors, irons with boards and any small thing that was desired was immediately delivered. We loved the patios (especially the huge one off of the Rama suite), they were perfect for the gathering of the 'clan' to celebrate before heading out for dinners. We all LOVED the area, so close to a zillion bars and restaurants, easy to negotiate, the Whole Foods and 2 subway stations are just blocks away so it is easy to get around either by foot, train or cab. Like most people, we didn't do a lot of cooking but the kitchens were a huge added bonus for light snacks, fresh fruit smoothies, chilled wine and early morning coffee/tea. We helped ourselves to breakfast downstairs (Mon - Fri) and then added our own personal touch upstairs which was a brilliant way to start the day. I would highly recommend everything about the Sanctuary Suites - Mario and Zach were a pleasure to deal with and very easy to reach with any questions. Thank you again and hope to stay again soon. 05 June 2015 - 18:18:54

This was our first time using VRBO accommodation and our first time in New York. We had a great stay! We stayed in the Raja (2C) Apartment, which comfortably slept 4 of us. It was a wonderfully clean and modern apartment with everything you could possibly need. The corner shop across the road was very handy too. Once we found our way around, there were plenty of great restaurants and bars nearby. All staff were wonderful and helpful, no question was too much trouble to answer. The only thing to be aware of, is that this is a vegetarian establishment, thus you are unable to cook or consume any meat or eggs on the premises. This was not made clear in the initial booking process and was not an issue for me, but for others it may be. We loved the entire experience and will definitely recommend it! 18 July 2016 - 02:49:28

I was going to NYC on business with a client, and needed 3 rooms to rent that were clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Since I have never stayed there before, I didn't know what to expect when I arrived. To my delight and surprise, I was blown away with the Sanctuary Guest Suites when I arrived. The rooms were very large, clean and had all of the amenities of a fancy hotel, as well as a large kitchen, balcony and free continental breakfast every morning. I can't wait to go back and I have already recommended it to several friends and business associates. It is a MUST while in Manhattan. 19 January 2013 - 21:25:54
