While this is a great location and VERY clean and tidy the noise of 8th Avenue late at night was not good. Awakened several times by people yelling in the streets at 2 and 3am. While not the property's problem it is a problem if you are a light sleeper. Comfortable spot, lots of room for 2 people. 2 floor walk up in case luggage is an issue. Otherwise this is a great location. 02 October 2017 - 21:13:00

What at perfect apartment and perfect location. The apartment was super cute and clean!!! And described perfectly in description. Owner responded quickly to all questions ask prior to rental. Pluses to renting this unit are.....the ability to store luggage in Owner owned gift shop below rental unit before and after check in and out. Multiple rentals in same building if traveling with other couples or many friends. Gift shop employees very helpful and friendly in many ways. Free Internet access!! Walking distance to EVERYTHING!!! And what a BARGIN!!!!!! 05 May 2010 - 12:41:06

The location of this apartment was perfect for the vacation my husband and I created for our 18-year-old niece to see NYC for her first time. Close to EVERYTHING! Times Square, Broadway theaters, metro train stations, grocery stores, restaurants, shopping. What else is there?!? Clean, comfortable, secure, small 2nd story apartment with a/c, private bedroom, flat screen TV, high speed internet 24/7, and kitchen for full meal preparation or to assemble simple snacks to eat there or "on the road." SO much better than a hotel room and more like having a "home away from home." Perfect for the 3 of us. We went "day tripping" daily to Ellis Island, City tours, shopping, Central Park . . . then came back to rest where it was cool and comfortable. Then back out to Broadway shows in the evening. Owner was helpful and responsive. . . eager to take care of our needs! A perfect trip! 31 July 2010 - 23:22:04
  4. This apartment is in an excellent location for a tourist who wants to be close to the action of Times Square and the Theatre District. You can walk to any Broadway theatre as well as Restaurant Row in 5 to 10 minutes, and the location is close to several subway lines for easy access around the city. It was great having access to a fridge, microwave and stove which you don't get at a hotel, and there is a Food Emporium four or five short blocks away (an easy walk). Good selection of dishes and utensils and great bath towels! Ample paper products were provided in the kitchen and bathroom. The apartment & amenities were clean & the furniture in good condition. The in-room computer, internet access and the free local & long-distance telephone were also an added feature to this suite. For those trying to take advantage of 3 or 4 person accomodation, we found that the twin-sized "sleeper sofa" was not comfortable. It folds out to a thin mattress resting right on the hardwood floor, and it did not provide sufficient support - half feels like there is a hard board right at the surface (under your shoulders), while the fold-out section is only foam that does not support an adult's body weight. We also had to ask for an extra set of sheets for the sleeper sofa (even though we had booked & confirmed for 3 people) and only received a bottom fitted sheet (no top sheet / pillow cases). Only one additional blanket & pillow were provided in the suite, which may not be sufficient for some travellers. A trip to JCP was required to round out the bedding needs for our stay. The bedroom did get stuffy with the door closed - the only way to allow for air circulation was to leave the bedroom double-door open at night to benefit from the air conditioner. Light sleepers may find the noise from the comedy club next door as well as the street noise distracting (this unit faces the street on the 2nd level). The club was next to the outer wall of the bedroom, and noise carried into the room until 3am. The A/C unit blocked most noise from disturbing those in the living room. Light sleepers should also consider that the blinds will not perfectly block out all street light pollution at night (as one would experience at a hotel). Welcome to New York City! 25 October 2010 - 22:06:07

We stayed here New Years Eve week and I will say it IS close to everything. We walked to most places we went to. It is clean (looks just like the pictures) and there is a good supply of almost everything. Water provided? Well if you mean 4 small bottles for 2 people for 5 days then it is provided. When I asked for more I was told to buy it. Also 3 towels for 5 days - I just don't like reusing them. Then there was the radiator from hell. I guess being from the south I just don't know how these things work (and was not told anything about it) but the clanging noise all night or the hissing sounds in the morning or the water going everywhere if you touch it was just not for me. Besides the radiator noise there was the street noise. Bring ear plugs! Or maybe go in the summer. 15 January 2011 - 17:02:15

What a great area we were in the middle of everything ,only one block to Time Sq and in the middle of the Theatre District we could walk everywhere only needed a cab once and yes it is VERY noisy but it is New York and you on a Main Road, the windows are double glazed but you just couldn't hide from the noise. We stayed in unit 2 which was a big mistake it is at the front on level 2 and is right on the road and you are next door to an Irish Pub and at 2am they all come out drunk and start yelling at each other like all new Yorkers seem to do, it sounded like they were in the room with us and for some reason there seems to be either a Police Car,Ambulance or Fire Truck with sirens going every 2 minutes but thats New York. EVERYTHING on the web page is honest and accurate the photo's and the description is spot on and it is VERY good value and the PC in the room was FANTASTIC to keep in touch with family and friends back home If we went back to New York we would stay in the same area but NOT on a busy main road. 03 May 2011 - 23:55:09

My niece and her daughter stayed in this apartment for 4 days and 3 nites and can tell you we will never pay to stay in a hotel when we visit New York City.....you are a few blocks away from Times Square and in the middle of Theatre District.. It was clean and updated, plenty of towels, and no noise that kept us awake. And we felt totally secure in this building!! Best money I ever spent. Thank you Capri for making our trip a memorable one. We will be back for sure and I will highly recommend you to anyone planning a trip to the city!! 15 August 2011 - 20:04:27
  8. We stayed here the middle of October for three nights, and this apartment was a huge surprise in that it is wonderful! Extremely clean, comfortable bed, clean linens and towels. It is a block from Broadway shows, Restaurant Street, walking distance to Central Park, off Broadway, and a close cab drive to Little Italy. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Capri! 04 November 2011 - 03:30:22

Three of us stayed here this past October for a weekend in NYC. The place worked out really well...it is in a very central location close to Times Square/Theater District and near the 8th Avenue subway line. I don't want to repeat what others have mentioned, so I thought I would highlight some of the things that may not be so readily apparent: - Luggage storage was available and very convenient, but note that the gift shop where you drop it off doesn't open until 9am so don't plan on leaving anything until then. - Be alerted that this is a second floor walk up. My dad is 83 years old and could do the fairly long set of stairs, but he is in very good shape. Others might find it a bit difficult. - There are basic cooking supplies, but don't expect tons of bells and whistles. For example, there is only a 4-cup coffee pot. The goal is to provide enough to function, but it isn't like you'll have the supplies or want to make elaborate meals here. - There can definitely be a bit of street noise...the solution to that for us was to turn the fan of the air conditioner on during the night to drown out the sirens, etc. - Two people can fit in the bed, but the futon is pretty basic, i.e., foam pad Overall, though, you can't beat this combination of location and price. It is clean, neat and the bathroom is very nice. And, unlike a hotel, you don't have to worry about the housekeeper being in your room when you want to stop back in and take a little nap. I am a VRBO owner myself and have rented several VRBO properties in the past. This is definitely a good value. 05 November 2011 - 03:22:58

This was the first time I ever rented an apartment for vacation and it was an awesome experience! The apartment was excellent and exactly as advertised. It was clean, comfortable and amazingly located! It is just in the heart of the city and you can go any direction without any problem. The communication with Capri was very straightforward during all the process and the people at the store were all very friendly and helpful! It's very convenient to have them so close in case you have any problem. The only cons we found is the noise that comes from the street... it is a second floor facing a big avenue so you can imagine how noisy could it be! Dont worry, bring some earplugs in case that bothers you but I would not change the amazing location just because of that! Amazing experience!! Thanks so much Capri and I will definitely contact you if I visit NY again!! 08 October 2012 - 16:30:58

Let me start by saying that Capri was wonderful to work with!! However, the apartment wasn't what we expected. It is very basic, which by itself isn't a problem. But the "convertible sofa" is nothing more than one of those fold up foam cheapie things. It wasn't adequate (or comfortable) for sleeping, nor was it adequate for sitting on. The bed was comfortable, but the windows all face the street, and the apartment is only on the 2nd floor. There is a tour bus stop directly in front of the windows, and the buses stop there at all times of the day and night to let tourists on/off. The noise is absolutely awful. We had to go buy ear plugs just to sleep, but even with the ear plugs, the noise was still bad. On top of that, the apartment is next door to a pub. The pub and the apartment literally share a wall, and the noise from that was not great either. But the worst part is that the smokers would come outside, stand right under the apartment window, and the cigarette smell wafted into the apartment on a regular basis, even though the windows were closed. The kitchen is ok, but has very little in the way of pots/pans, etc., but has a full size refrigerator. The internet was problematic, but the guy from the shop downstairs did come up quickly to try to get it fixed. The bathroom is fine, plenty of towels. On the plus side, the apartment is very close to Time Square and Broadway. It was a VERY convenient location. It is an easy walk to anywhere in lower Manhattan. We even walked from Central Park to the apartment several times with no problems. 09 November 2012 - 01:37:52

Great location - close to everything! Noisy at night but what would you expect in New York? The place was clean and the bed was comfortable. Gift shop keepers were pleasant and very helpful. We had a wonderful time 27 October 2017 - 03:39:00

The whole attraction to this apartment is the location! Very easy to walk to all the locations and subway. We would stay here again for the location. Very easy check in and check out with the gift shop downstairs. Important information, this is a third floor walkup, fine for us, but important for any visitors that may have any limitations. Everything was very clean except the shower has mold stains. Plenty of towel available. Owner is very responsive to emails. We had a great stay! 28 October 2017 - 14:41:00

Fabulous! The only drawback was its third floor location which I thought was to be the second floor. Oy my sciatica! But I probably mis-read the description. 27 December 2017 - 23:16:00

Perfect spot for a small group of 2-3 to enjoy New York. The appartment is older but very clean. Would recommend to anyone looking for something they can keep the budget down and cook your own food!! Helps save money. Thanks for a great stay. 13 January 2018 - 13:10:00

This apartment was in the perfect location for touring NYC. We had never been before and weren't sure where the best location would have been, and we couldn't have been happier with our selection for location. Literally a 5 minute (or less) walk to Times Square. Less than 5 minute walk to the 42nd street subway station, which is an enormous station with lots of trains that will get you almost anywhere. The bedding was good, towels were nice, TV worked, kitchen was clean (although we didn't end up using much of it). This is definitely a busy part of town 24 hours a day - so it was noisy when you are trying to sleep. The only cons were that the bathtub wasn't the cleanest and the check in seemed a little disorganized. Overall we were very happy with our stay here. 01 November 2017 - 19:47:00

I stayed here for a week. It gets the 2 stars because of the great location in the middle of the Theatre District, very close to Times Square and within walking distance of many attractions, and because it was spotlessly clean (except for the filthy windows), the shower was hot, it had lots of towels and good wifi. However it's tired, not well-maintained and poorly set up. The people in the Gift Shop have limited English and were not very interested or helpful. It could be good with $1000 spent on it plus better service. The heating is a problem. The day I arrived it was -17C, but the water heater was not turned on so the apartment was freezing. I went downstairs to the Gift Shop and complained. The young men there didn't seem too keen to do anything but finally rang "the boss" and eventually someone appeared with an additional portable small column heater, felt the water heater and said something would happen. Finally it warmed up a bit but for the first 3 days I had to wear boots and a thick sweater inside to be warm enough. Also they turn off the heater during the day. I can understand that when it's warmer but they did it on a day when it was -6C and I came back to a freezing flat again. I complained again, they rang "the boss" again, and the heater came on. Also once it's on, while you can turn off the water heater, you can't turn off the pipe of hot water that goes through the bedroom up to the higher floors so you can't control the temperature. The couch had a bed sheet on it (most unattractive!), the towel rail fell off, one Venetian blind fell off with a crash when I tried to pull it up (I told the people in the Shop and they just shrugged). The light fitting in the bedroom hums and flickers and is ugly. There are no batteries in the smoke detector alarm so it wouldn't work if there was a fire, and there are bars on the windows that would prevent you getting out onto the external fire escape. There is a big stove & good microwave but the kitchen utensils are very limited so you can't cook more than very basic things. There is no salad bowl (or any sort of bowl other than soup bowls), no salad servers, no wooden spoon, tongs or a corkscrew, and no strainer to drain pasta or veggies. There are a few mismatched pieces of cutlery including 3 chopsticks which about sums it up. It's right on 8th Avenue so is very noisy (which I expected) but I doubt you could sleep with the windows open. I wouldn't stay here again despite the location. 15 January 2018 - 07:43:00

The apartment did not have AC as advertised. It had been taped up with plastic. There wasn't any air circulation whatsoever in the apartment. It was not as colorful as the pictures showed. The windows were paper thin and you could hear conversations perfectly from the street. I've stayed in NYC many times and am aware of the noise but this was beyond what is to be expected. The stairs are very steep going up to the apartment. It's located next to an Irish Pub that offers live (loud) music. The entrance to the building is very congested with pedestrians. We were not happy at all with this apartment. 06 December 2017 - 16:45:00
