The apartment is situated in a very quite street, parking is available for free. The train to Manhattan is very close and takes around 15-20 minutes. Grocery shops are close by. We felt very safe in the neighborhood! Everybody was very friendly! The apartment has a very big kitchen and is well equipped. The bathroom is outside of the apartment but that wasn't a problem for us. There is a bedroom with one bed and a sofa . The bedroom needs a renovation - a new mattress and new painting and new chairs! Outside was a little area to sit which definitely needs a make over - it looked very sad. All over the place was ok, but I would recommend that the owner does a bit of renovation! 05 September 2016 - 19:00:00

This place is wonderful. We had 2 kids and 2 adults and there was plenty of room. Everything you need is right there and the grocery is only about 4 blocks away if you need to grab a couple things. We felt safe there. The subway was also only a few blocks away so it was super convenient. Kim was great and answered all our questions and was sure our needs were met. If we return to the big city again, I would definitely stay here again!! 03 July 2017 - 01:04:00

29 October 2017 - 09:57:00

Me and my family (me, my wife and two dautghers, 14 and 17) we enjoied John's apartment. The space was enought for our needs and in particular we enjoed kitchen as we cooked for the dinner during our stay and we found everything to do it well. Neighborhood was quite and close to main groceries, banks and subway, A, C (10-15 min walks.) We reccomend this flat. 23 November 2017 - 11:53:00
  10. With my family (2 adults and 2 daughter of 14 and 17) we stay in this apartment for 5 days. John has been a good host and we got a very good assistan from him in some cases. Apartment was nice and well equiped (in particular kitchen and bathroom). We stay in a typical area of Brooklyn very quite, close to subway (10 min walk) and groceries (5 min walk). 15 November 2017 - 10:19:00

Came to NYC with a few friends one from Canada one from Florida one from Boston. We had a great time staying at Jin's house and seeing the city for (some of our) first times. John had a booklet with restaurants in the area, nearest subway directions and supermarkets etc which was very helpful. The upstairs neighbors were also extremely nice. The area was a bit sketchy at times but we did not run into any trouble so it was fine. It's a quick walk to the subway and we spent most of our time closer to the city 19 September 2017 - 13:58:00

Spent 4 days (5 nights) with my wife and two kids (9 & 6). This spot is worth being recommended to explore NYC from. Key points are: - very good location close to subway and local grocery stores (car not needed though there is enough toll free parking space - beware of street cleaning twice a week), - well equipped apartment - all you need, - good general impression and satisfactory cleanliness, - very friendly and helpful hosts who live next door, - very good contact prior to and just before the arrival - all the arrangements and directions went smoothly, - felt safe and comfortable in the neighborhood. 29 August 2016 - 14:38:58

We had a hard time communicating with the owners to get in. We waited for about an hour outside, before getting in. It would have been nice to have the second number to call, since the first number was out of the country. Luckily, someone was going into the upstairs to let Kim know that we were the outside knocking. The place was not cleaned and not ready for us to move in. Left for over an hour to the local grocery store. Still wasn't ready when we got back. Things to know ahead of time that is not on contract or discussed anywhere. #1 You have to move your vehicle on Tuesdays and Thursday because of trash pick up. Doesn't seem that big of a deal, but we walk 6 blocks away for parking on those days. #2 Can not run the AC while you are out. They actually shut it off while we were out. Went to New York City for the day and come back to 80+ in apartment. It does cool off rather quickly, but would have been nice to know. I understand they wanted to save money, but if you are on vacation do you really want to come back into a warm apartment at the end of the day? Add more onto the rent price if you have too or let the renter know in advance on the contract. #3 The bathroom has no AC or vents and it located in the hallway from the kitchen. Again hot day in the city, cool shower to cool off and hot bathroom to dry off afterwards. #4 The apartment was dirty. We spent the first hour or so, redoing the cleaning. Ask for cleaning fee back, but nothing! They should have taken there time, instead of rushing to get us in. Had to clean the bottom oven before using it. The dishes in the cabinets had to be rewash before using them too. All the counters, sinks, stove and refrigerator. #5 The bed needs to go! (It was said on another reviews too.) The bed sinks into the middle. I'm a big guy so it did not work for me and my wife. I slept on the futon for the 3 days. It is a short walk to the subway and grocery store. Overall the apartment was below average for our visit. Maybe if we started off better and the apartment was cleaned, it would have gone up to average. Still waiting for a returned response from John and Kim. Waited 14 days to write review. Gave them a chance to redeem themselves with given us something back for us doing some of the cleaning. Would not stay here, when we come back to visit the New York area. 20 August 2016 - 09:38:00

We had the wonderful opportunity to stay for 12 days at John & Kim's house. Never have been to Brooklyn or NY...the location is so accommodating close to the train and the subway. The house is beautiful. Very clean and has everything you could ever need...a huge plus is that Kim and John are right there property. This is a must place to stay. We will be back in the near future. Thank you again for opening up your beautiful home and city to us! 19 June 2016 - 15:22:25
  15. I stayed here over Memorial Day Weekend to visit my son, whose apartment is also in Bed-Stuy. The location is fantastic: just a few blocks from an express A train, making it easy to get there from JFK, and super easy to get into the city. John and Kim were excellent hosts, very careful to make sure I could unlock the doors, showing me all the amenities of the place, and making me feel at home. The apartment itself is very spacious (larger than a traditional studio), the kitchen is well-stocked with cooking utensils, and the back patio is really nice. I'd love to come back in the winter and put the dual ovens through their paces. I definitely recommend. 06 June 2016 - 04:20:00

  17. This is a classic old brownstone in the heart of Bed Stuy. Ive stayed here twice now, in two different units. The owner is very responsive and flexible - we missed up our arrival date, but he was able to accommodate. We stayed here over Thanksgiving and were able to cook! The place is convenient to subway and many cool restaurants and shops. Will definitely stay here again! 10 December 2017 - 15:49:00

Conveniently located near the A and C Train. Very nice kitchen, the rest appears to be a work in progress. Very noisy upstairs neighbor, whose bathroom was right next to the bedroom. 19 October 2017 - 05:01:00

The Garden Level apartment was in easy walking distance to the Subway, LIRR, grocery store, as well as various, delicious restaurants! The old Brownstones are engaging, but with its old world charm comes the sacrifice of solitudinal living. With many living on various floors of the brownstone, noise travels and can be somewhat disruptive when schedules vary. (ie: TV and foot step sounds throughout the night). That being said, John and Kim were very accomodating and their studio apartment more than fit what we were looking for in this price point. 05 November 2016 - 00:54:00
