The location is in the middle of Putney, but in a quiet mews. Everything you need is within a few minutes walk along the high street. We stayed for two weeks and everything went very smoothly except for a little problem on the first night which was sorted out immediately. The cottage is so spacious and light. Easily accommodates four/five adults. There is no cleaning provided but bedlinen/towels are changed once a week. For casual eating we particularly recommend the Putney Canteen. The Prince of Wales became our "local". Transportation into central London, and further afield, is a doodle. Would definitely stay here again. 31 December 2014 - 12:48:37

We absolutely loved it. I came with my wife and 3 daughters, and it was plenty big enough for all of us. Kitchen was set up nicely and we had everything we needed. The location is right off the high street with loads of shops and restaurants to choose from. The tube is a short walk across the Putney bridge, I would guess it's about a 5 min walk. You can catch the bus right out in front of the house if you didn't want to walk or if it is raining. Getting a taxi to the house is a bit tricky since it is down an alley in between 2 shops. If you Google earth the location SW15 1SR you can see what I am talking about. Just look for Maplin Electronics, and it's the alley right next to it. Being right off the high street there is some street noise. That may bother some people, but it didn't really bother us at all. The house is one of 4 down the alley. The house at the end is under construction which also causes some noise in the mornings. I didn't hear them start before 9am, so that was not an issue for me, but again may irritate some. This is a nice area of London, and we always felt safe walking the streets at night, or walking back from the tube station in the dark. All in all I would totally recommend this house for a family, and the price is very reasonable. I did A LOT of research before booking this one and it's a great deal. 17 February 2015 - 16:31:21

This is our seventh rental through VRBO and once again we were fortunate to pick another winner property. Excellent location with everything you will possibly need within 5 minutes walk. Lots of space for a family of 4 with a 20 year old and a 17 year old. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom. Easy access to the tube or train (which was our preference). The train was quiet and comfortable all the way to Waterloo... Fantastic! I would recommend this property and would definitely stay here again in the future. 24 May 2015 - 20:44:00

28 August 2016 - 09:06:00

We really enjoyed our stay in Token Yard. It is surprisingly quiet despite being just off Putney High Street, and is a perfect base for a family visiting London, with underground and overground only a 5 minute walk away. Our 3 adult children loved the house, location and easy access to transport. Supermarkets and shops are a minute away with plenty of pub and restaurant options. The Coach and Badge is a local favourite. There are riverside walks, and the charming Fulham Palace is just over Putney Bridge. The house is well laid out and spacious enough for a family of 5, with a master bedroom and en suite on the top floor. The house was in good condition, and well cleaned. A few more kitchen utensils might be nice! Overall highly recommended. 01 January 2017 - 17:57:00

We had a lovely stay in token yard. Great house with nice rooms and kitchen. The location of the house is in the centre of Putney and you can reach everything easily by foot. 06 January 2017 - 09:18:00

An excellent flat and I basically agree with other reviews previously posted. Myself and 3 friends were all quite comfortable and found the 3-leveled flat to provide plenty of space for everyone to spread out. While the several flights of stairs may be a deterent to those with physical limitations, it did provide privacy & being able-bodied yound adults, we did not enounter any difficulty with this. Additionally, each floor had a bathroom which was hightly convenient (though the street level was only a toliet/sink). Pretty much everything we could need was provided: washer/dryer, hair dryer, clothes drying rack, iron, all the amenities one would need in a kitchen as well as some basic condiments, spices, tea and coffee left by prior occupants and owners. We similarily "paid it forward" by leaving some food staples behind. Every bathroom had toliet paper and hand soap but if either ran out during your stay, you were responsible for topping them off. We did bring our own paper towels and clothes washing detergent though there was a bit left over from prior visitors too. The location was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the quaintness of Putney - only about a 25 min Tube ride to most major sites yet when you returned, it was like "coming home". We were not bothered by any street noise even though there were tons of stores, shops, food stores etc literally right outside the front door and anything you could need was readily available. The pub "The Eight Bells" located near the "Putney Bridge" Tube stop is a great local which is worth visiting: fantastic & filling 7.95 pound meals served between 6-9pm. While two Tube stops are nearby to access the flat (East Putney & Putney Bridge), process of elimination found Putney Bridge to be easier to access, esp with luggage, as most of the walk was via the bridge over the Thames with limited pedesterians. This was not the case if one departed by East Putney as the sidewalk was often occupied with numerous shoppers. Note the directions to the entrance mew state to look for "The Body Shop" store but this has since been taken over by "Aveda", in case one gets confused and perhaps the directions need to be updated to reflect this change. Tip: consider the commuter "Thames Clipper" boat as a fun way to see the city. Putney pier is literally a 5 min walk but note it only runs M-F during commuter hours but at 8.20 pounds, you can get all the way to Greenwich. Would stay here again on future visits to London! 13 October 2016 - 17:25:00

Great position, suited our 5 people very well. Short walk to shops, transport and the Thames. Barbara was very helpfull as we wanted to check in and out a bit earlier than normal. Apartment was warm and comfortable even thought the english winter was cold as expected. 17 January 2017 - 19:52:00

We loved Token Yard, it's brilliantly situated between two tube stations (Putney Bridge and East Putney) and the Putney National Rail station - plus any number of buses. Pretty much everything you need locally is only minutes away - supermarkets, restaurants, pubs, the river. The house itself is charming, clean, comfortable and a perfect haven to come home to. The only reason we didn't give it five stars was it was a little noisy with the comings and goings of residents in the apartment block in front of the house (the door bangs very loudly and often) and there was a strange smell around the front door which was noticed at check in but not followed up on - and it stayed with us the whole week. Once inside the house the smell was less noticeable, but still lingered. Hopefully this has since been addressed. Otherwise, a great place to stay when in London if you want to get out and about. 02 February 2017 - 06:13:00

We loved our stay at Token Yard in Putney! The house is beautiful, spacious, clean, quiet and safe. It is in a great area that is walking distance to everything you could possibly need (shopping and restaurants) during your stay. Only a 5 minute walk to the Putney train station and a short ride to London. Barbara also gave some great recommendations on various buses to take if you prefer those over the train or tube. Highly recommend getting an Oyster card, which we used for the trains, tubes and buses. There are a number of restaurants to enjoy delicious meals. The grocery store is conveniently located about half way between the house and train station, so it's easy to stock up on items to prepare meals in the fully equipped kitchen. We called Barbara as soon as we were ready to leave Gatwick and she gave us great directions to get the train, even telling us the correct platform we needed. She met us at the house when we arrived and gave us a very helpful walk-thru of the house and appliances. Highly recommend this property, and would love to stay here again if we are fortunate enough to return to London! 16 February 2017 - 06:18:00

Token Yard was exactly as advertised and provided a nearly ideal home-away-from-home during our family's visit to London. It met and/or exceeded our expectations in almost every way. Additionally, Simon, Barbara and Tom were very gracious, flexible and responsive hosts, especially when our arrival was delayed by 12 hours due to a flight cancellation and the washing machine broke three days into our stay. We would highly recommend the property to anyone, especially families of 4-5, and would not hesitate to stay there again during our next visit. 27 March 2017 - 00:44:00

Family of 5 very much enjoyed our week in London staying at Token Yard. 5 mins walk from Putney Bridge. Bus,Tube and Rail stations within easy walk. Lots of shops, pubs, restaurants and even cinema on doorstep. Free parking 10 mins walk away. The Oxford/Cambridge boat race was on the Sunday - which starts at Putney Bridge - which was an added treat! Warm house and very comfortable beds. Microwave, oven, washer/dryer, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer all very handy. Would advise taking own towels as only 1 hand and 1 bath towel pp provided for week. I do think that more tea towels and dish-clothes should be provided by the owners. Also feel crockery needs replacing as lots chipped. Overall we had a lovely stay and the house was great for what we needed. Cara, Edinburgh 22 April 2017 - 12:09:00

We have just returned from a one week stay in this lovely townhouse just off Putney high street. It is located on a laneway off the busy street but so close to everything. The sitting area in front of the house was nice to have for relaxing or reading a book. The area can be quite noisy with the general traffic and the jet planes overhead.... we used our earplugs and slept well. The owners were helpful before the trip and readily took care of a couple of minor things that we needed help with. As this is a self-catered unit be aware of the limited supplies available for use in the home . There are so many restaurants, shops, grocery stores, pubs, and all forms of transportation within easy walking distance. We used the tube, train, buses, and river boats....all with our Oyster cards. The townhouse itself was very nicely appointed. Loved the master suite on the 3rd floor but all the rooms were comfortable. There are skylights in the kitchen and half bath which helped to keep the area nice and bright. Lucky for us we had great weather but on a dull day the sky light would be cheery. Having 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths was great for the 3 of us...lots of room . Would recommend The Token Yard as a place to stay in London . The location alone makes it perfect vacation rental. Thank you Simon and Barbara for your help. 04 June 2017 - 22:43:00

Four of us spent 10 days in this beautiful townhouse, although it could easily sleep 6. The kitchen was well-stocked, everything was clean, and they even took the time to demonstrate to this American how to use the European coffee maker. Bedrooms are a good size, and there is a bathroom on every level of this three-level townhouse. Every kind of shopping is on the street 100 feet away, but being a mews, it is actually located behind the shops, so was very quiet for such a central location. Close to bus and Underground stations, we found it easy to get into central London attractions. Would definitely recommend this rental to family and friends. 21 June 2017 - 16:20:00

This house was perfect for us. My husband, myself, and our two kids (ages 18 and 21) stayed there on our first trip to the UK. We like to travel with a "home base". A place to come back to at the end of the day where everyone can just relax and have their own space. We also like to have markets and restaurants/pubs near by that aren't so tourist based. The house was very clean and the beds are comfortable, as well as the furniture; this is a top priority for me. We have been in other homes where the furniture is worn and the beds are old, that is not the case here. What might be draw backs for others were not a big deal for us, but I feel I should mention them. The stairs between the floors are narrow and steep. Not a problem for us, but if you don't like stairs it might be for you. The house is in the airport flight path and although the planes are quiet at night, they do start quite early. Again, not a problem for us because we were up and out early every day. Barbara could not have been nicer or more helpful. Always available to help if we needed something. The house keepers were in to change the sheets and bring fresh towels once during our two week stay. It was nice to have fresh sheets each week. We had a lovely holiday At Token Yard. If you like the idea of escaping from the tourist rush daily, and you enjoy walking, and taking the Underground into and around London, this is the place to be. The Putney Bridge station is just a short walk away and will take you pretty much anywhere you would like to go. Putney has many good restaurants and pubs, markets and shops, in addition to a fun active vibe. The train station is very close too. We flew into Gatwick and took the train into Putney very easily. The house is a short walk from the train station straight up Putney High Street. No need to rent a car. Overall I would say that Token Yard is a great place to stay. So happy to have found it. 21 June 2017 - 14:36:00

Very quaint and homey. We cooked breakfast and had our coffee at home each morning. Lots of affordable restaurants within a few blocks walk...the hardest part was choosing one. Easy access to the tube station. Washer/dryer was handy to have. Because we knew there was a washing machine, we each brought only one carryon suitcase. 01 July 2017 - 16:34:00

I have had several rather disappointing London rentals in the past but I am so happy to say that I was extremely happy with this lovely, charming, quaint flat near Putney High Street. It is a Mews home located behind several High Street businesses but once you get inside it is very peaceful and oh so charming. We were four adults who had plenty of room to relax, dine, visit and sleep. The home is very clean and very well cared for. Everything we needed was here. We walked across to Waitrose for groceries and were able to cook plenty of breakfasts and a few dinners at home. We enjoyed the local eateries including Bill's, Aquimia, Rockets for beers and snacks, Wagamama for a quick meal and Eight Bells for a good pub beer and game. We had a choice of two different tube stations which took us easily to all of our favorite places. My Husband was able to walk to the Putney Bridge and take several terrific photos. We shopped on the High Street for essentials at Boots and one of us went for a haircut to Toni and Guy. Last minute travel needs were a walk across the street to TK Maxx. It was all convenient. The booking process was quick and easy and the Kelly's were terrific folks to work with. I cannot gush enough about how happy we were here. We kept saying "wish we could move this flat to our neighborhood" or "If I could live here forever I would". Thanks for making our London stay so wonderful. We cannot wait to come back again same time next year! 23 April 2014 - 13:00:15

My family of 4 stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. There is so much room in this flat especially with 2 teenagers who need space. The area is also great as there is everything you need within steps of your flat. The flat was clean and the area was relatively quiet at night. It's about 25 min into Westminster station... great pub on the way to Putney Bridge Station called "the eight bells". This is our seventh VRBO rental and once again it was a winner. Communication with the owner was not a problem. We would definitely recommend this property! 28 May 2015 - 14:03:22
